Community Engagement INITIATIVES 2high Schools
Bounce Creative Futures Forum
Aiming to nurture this audience as they grow with the Festival, in 2012 we will continue 2high Schools with the addition of an Ambassadors Program, a more hands-on program to pass on production skill sets to the next generation. We aim to foster a long term bond with these students, not just as an audience, but as active internal participants.
Secondments and Work Experiences
Newly launched during Backbone 2high Festival 2011, the 2high Schools was created to further engage a wider audience of high school students in Brisbane. We called for entries from these younger students and had a public vote via Facebook, which was very well received.
A brand new intiative presented as part of Backbone 2high Festival 2011, the Forum was curated and facilitated by the BOUNCE advisory group and partnered with Young People and the Arts Australia. The Forum drew 96 participants and showcased exceptional debate and discussion. Young practitioners spoke about political and socio-economic issues and considerations relevant to them and the general arts industry.
Backbone provides opportunities for young people to engage with the Festival through administrative and creative secondments and work experience. In 2011, we welcomed 7 placements from Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University and high schools in the Brisbane area.
