Home Decor Ideas
When you think about decorating your home, you often think of things like colour, size, silhouette and style. Try to give each room a certain personality through these elements and pieces of furniture. One piece, a lot of people forget about is texture. Using texture is a really easy and exciting way to transform how your room looks and feels (literally)
Whatistexture ininterior design?
When we talk about texture, we could mean absolutely anything. Texture can come in the form of a fabric, material or just any surface really. Common textures are wood, metal, stone, jute, cotton, silk, wool and clay. By using these together, you can create a space that pops much more than if it were totally one dimensional.
Howtolayertextures
You need to layer on textures that complement each other and also catch the eye. For example, start with one large textural piece like a velvet sofa or woven carpet and use this as your backdrop. Take the velvet armchair, for instance, velvet has a very deep and soft texture so you may place a rustic, wooden side table beside this chair.
When using texture, it’s quite easy to stick to the conventional routes but one great thing about this is that there is no space too small or too big to incorporate texture into. Think about adding a few stone pots or beaded accents to a bathroom counter, or using multiple candle stands of different textures in a lonely corner. Textured walls are another great way to use this element.
