The Wolves’ Den at Rohnert Park, Calif.
After starting the season off strong under first-year head coach Paul Trevor, the Gators have since lost three of their last four games, including two losses at home last weekend to nationally-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State L.A. San Francisco State’s 85-80 loss to CSULA on Saturday came in overtime after the Gators lead by seven points with just under five minutes to play. Nefi Perdomo and Marquel Hoskins lead the Gator attack, averaging in double figures at 16.1 and 10.8, respectively -- Perdomo is third in the CCAA in scoring. Hoskins, named to the Preseason All-America Team, leads the team in rebounding, averaging 5.7 a contest. San Francisco State and Sonoma State split the season series last year, each winning on its respective home courts. The Gators lead the all-time series, 41-36, but SSU teams coached by Pat Fuscaldo is 20-12 against SFSU.
vs. Cal State Monterey Bay OTTERS Saturday, January 15 • 7:30 p.m.
4-8, 2-6 ccaa
The Wolves’ Den at Rohnert Park, Calif.
Since winning three straight games and prevailing in four of their first six games, the Otters have since cooled off and are on a six-game losing streak. It dates back to Dec. 11 when Cal State Monterey Bay hosted Division I Southern Mississippi at the Kelp Bed and lost 86-61. Despite sitting at tenth in the conference standings at 2-6, the Otters have the CCAA’s leading scorer in Davion Berry, who averages 17.7 points per game. Ian Horsford also averages in double figures at 11.5 a contest. Sonoma State and Cal State Monterey Bay split the season series last year, each winning on its respective home courts, but SSU has won in two of the last three meetings. The Seawolves lead the alltime series, 10-4.
Gators, Otters To Visit Rohnert Park This Weekend
The Seawolves (5-7, 3-5 CCAA) look to wrap up their season-long five-game homestand this weekend as they are set to host Bay Area-rival San Francisco State (7-5, 5-3 CCAA) on Thursday and Cal State Monterey Bay (4-8, 2-6 CCAA) on Saturday. Both contests are scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. in The Wolves’ Den on the campus of Sonoma State University.

Weekly Release
Since the Seawolves opened up the 2010-11 season at home in the Ron Logsdon Basketball Classic on Nov. 19-20, they spent 42 days between home games. The team traveled over 3,300 miles, playing seven games, before Sonoma State hosted Humboldt State on Sunday -- the Seawolves won just two of those seven games on the road. However, ten of SSU’s last 16 games of the season will be played at home.
The Return of the Seawolf Sports Network
For the third straight season, the Seawolf Sports Network is set to broadcast all men’s basketball home games in 2010-11. Theo “The Fightmaster” Fightmaster and Kevin “Bird Man” Christensen will bring you the call from The Wolves’ Den every home contest this year. The SSN is free of charge and registration and is accessible by going to www.sonomaseawolves.com and clicking the link at the bottom of the page.
Sonoma State Picked to Finish Sixth in CCAA
After finishing tied for sixth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings a year ago with a 10-12 record, Sonoma State was picked to finish sixth again, according to a preseason vote by the conference’s coaches. The Seawolves are led by 17th-year head coach Pat Fuscaldo, who owns a 225-209 overall record at SSU and a 170-140 mark in conference play.

2010-11 Sonoma State Men's Basketball Fuscaldo's Record at SSU Head Coach Pat Fuscaldo Year Overall Conference Pat Fuscaldo returns for his 17th season as head coach of the Sonoma State University men’s basketball team in 2010-11. In his previous sixteen years at the helm, Fuscaldo has a record of 223-207 overall and 170-140 in league play. In 2007-08, Fuscaldo became the winningest basketball coach in Sonoma State history and he is currently the dean of Men’s Basketball coaches in the CCAA. In 2005-06, Fuscaldo led the Seawolves to their first ever California Collegiate Athletic Association championship with a 16-4 conference record. For his efforts, Fuscaldo was voted the CCAA Coach of the Year by his peers. The squad also advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the previous nine years. Individually, the ‘05-’06 Seawolves featured an All-American, two All-West Region players, four All-Conference stars, and the CCAA Player of the Year. Before arriving at Sonoma State, Fuscaldo was the head coach at the College of Notre Dame (now Notre Dame de Namur) in Belmont. There, he turned a struggling program into a Northern California Athletic Conference playoff team in just three years. The Argonauts won just six games in his first season, but increased their victory total to ten the following year and 14 the next to earn a NCAC playoff berth and give Fuscaldo strong consideration for conference Coach of the Year honors. Prior to joining the staff at Notre Dame, Fuscaldo was an assistant coach at Skyline College, serving two stints, 1985-86 and then 1987-91. While there, Skyline reached the California State Final Eight in 1990 and 1991, won Coast Conference championships in 1989, 1990, and 1991, and posted a cumulative record of 105-23. Fuscaldo was an assistant coach at the University of San Francisco in 1986-87, and he has also coached at San Jose State and San Francisco State, where he received his Master’s Degree in Physical Education/Sports Psychology-Administration. He received his B.A. in Physical Education from San Francisco State in 1983. As a player, Fuscaldo was a two-year performer for Eastern Connecticut State College in Willimantic, Connecticut. He attended St. Thomas Moore Preparatory School in Colchester and Greenwich High School in Greenwich. Pat is married to former Stanford All-American and ABL player Molly Goodenbour, now the head women’s basketball coach at UC Irvine.
