What this is all about Hi and welcome to immortadelle mag’s first issue! I never really had the idea to create a magazine and didn’t knew i was capable of creating one to be honest, but i really liked the concept so this is where we are now. For this particular issue i’m kind of talking about everything i discovered or enjoyed this quarantine, and i also wanted to share my opinion on various subjects i’d like more people to know about. This issue and the mag in general are quite personal for the moment but i definitely think i’ll be open to submissions for the upcoming issue. Enjoy!!!
MUSIC
Lorde: I was already a huge fan of her but it seems like quarantine reinforced my love for her music, the number of times I played « Swinging Party » (or just her entire « Pure Heroine » album ) should be illegal lol. I think I mostly love her music because of the emotions I get listening to her songs. It’s nothing new to anyone that music can make you feel things but there’s always this one artist, song, or album that just transports you to another universe.
Chloe x Halle: I already knew they were talented but I wasn’t ready for this new album, everything was so on point ( music, music video, the visuals ), I just loved it. I also saw a big change in their music, this new album felt more mature and grown then the previous ones, and it’s just so satisfying to see this change in their music. Now I’m just waiting for that grammy…
Kendrick Lamar: Such great rapper, I know he hasn’t released an album in years but his old songs are soo good. I really liked DAMN, and i’m very happy quarantine sent me to him.
Tame Impala: The most mainstream non-mainstream band lol. I kind of get the same vibes than Lorde when I listen to their music, Currents is obviously about drug use but when you listen to the songs you really feel like you took drugs, which I think is the reason why they’re so popular. You don’t just listen to the music you feel the music.
Making dance is an act of process; it is an act of growth, an act of music, an act of teaching, an act of celebration, an act of joy - Alvin Ailey
Racism in the ballet industry
I really really wanted to talk about this subject as i found it quite ignored, and not talked about enough. Ballet was created during the Italian Renaissance in the fifteenth century and later developed into a concert dance form in France and Russia. With centuries, it eventually spread all over Europe and all over the world. By its history you can easily tell that ballet was created for white people. It’s funny because i didn’t even realized it at first. I remember my first day at the dance class, our teacher was telling us what to buy for the dance class and she said something that i will never forget. She asked us to buy « Skin Color thighs »,so i just went to the store to buy the « Skin Color thighs » and not one of them matched my skin color, but it didn’t bothered me that much. It’s only after many other events like this that i finally understood it. My main problem in the ballet industry comes mostly from this lack and rejection of diversity and inclusivity. I found it so unfortunate that the art industry in general, still perpetuates this. Because adaptation and change are the keys for persistance and evolution. So discriminating people because of their skin color is just loosing opportunities into improving and evolving to a new era of ballet. Diversity is also an improvement as it opens multiple cultural backgrounds to each dancer and choreographer, and eventually learns them how to correctly use them. The ballet world likes to have the connotation of inaccessible and private. Which it doesn’t realize is going to contribute to its downfall because of how disconnected it is from the society of today. Access is i think at the roots of this diversity problem. Ballet is very elitist and expensive, so for a working class student, a professional ballet dancer training is simply
unaffordable. Without any training, it is almost impossible to achieve admittance into a company school that puts young dancer that forms ballet professionals. Now for the solutions. No matter how problematic this industry is I can’t lie and say that I hate ballet because absolutely love it. Which is why I want a better future for the ballet industry. Amplifying people of color voices by not just using them as tokens but actually giving them the chances to have an important role in directive positions. Making the training more accessible to people from different socioeconomic backgrounds and creating a comfortable environment where each dancer can feel welcomed, respected and supported no matter where they come from. Learning to have conversations about race and educating yourself about racial issues before taking senseless actions. Stepping out of traditions to evolve and modernize the actual ballet world. Leaders need to dismantle inequitable practices; and reach out to leaders and dancers of color.

MY LOCKDOWN EXPERIENCE When I first heard about COVID 19, I thought it was a disease which would disappear in a month. But when I came to know about how many people died, per day, all around the planet, I was scared. My lockdown experience has been very varied. When we were told that schools were closing, I was kind of happy. I thought I would spend my days with my friends, I would watch TV shows all nights and sleep in a lot. But, one the last day of school, teachers explained us how dangerous was the situation. I realized that I wouldn't hang out with my friends as much as I thought because I did not want to risk my life. The first day of being quarantined felt like a Saturday. I woke up and worked on my homework and courses. The first week went well, I had this motivation that I put into everything. After a while, I started being bored and, at the same moment, I realized that the lockdown started getting longer. To help the fact that I wasn't able to go outside, I took the decision to take up some new hobbies. My childhood hobby was drawing so I put all my motivation into it but, after a week doing that, i got bored. I tried something else, and I got bored as well as I did with drawing. I tried things again, and again, and again. Even if I did not found my hobby, this is one thing I enjoyed during lockdown, I experienced new things I wouldn't have tried if the quarantine has never showed up. Then, I started appreciating this whole situation. I had my habits, I made up my own schedule. This quarantine helped me realize a ton of things because I've been on my own, thinking about pretty much everything. When I stepped out for the first time, I thoroughly enjoyed the fresh air, the blue sky, the sight of birds and other small animals. No traffic nor noise pollution with horns. This lockdown has had benefits on us. written by @laucmp
Internet: Out of touch with reality
In this article i’ll be talking about how the internet affects us. Firstly how the internet affects us positively : You share an opinion with multiple people, it truly feels like a breath of fresh air, you discover that you’re not alone and finally have a safe space where you can express your opinion with people that think the same as you. By this way you can eventually build a social relationship, with people from all over the world, it removes the geographical barrier between people. It’s also easier to maintain contacts with people, whether it’s your friend or you family, internet and mobile phones made communication instant and easier. Discover other cultures, and learn about them and their history. You have access to a lot of information, even though it’s not always true, we can have access to a lot of information in an immediate way. You can learn anything, a language, an instrument… Internet’s negative effects : You’re also confronted to opposite opinions, our fresh air is now a violent storm and it’s called OTHER PEOPLE’S OPINION, they’re probably annoyed by yours anyways…Even though being away from confrontation is very comfortable, you in a certain way need it, because confrontation is a part of everyday life and you need to learn how to cope with it, you’re not always right, and not everybody thinks the same as you. An excessive use of social media can lead to serious mental health issues, what benefits to can also make our lives a nightmare, social media puts us in an atmosphere of affirmation, we want people to look at us and by this way start comparing ourselves to them, it disconnects us from reality, and can affects our self-esteem very badly. Misinformation, fake news and its new monster deep fake, as everything happens very quickly on the internet, people don’t really pay attention to the verity of the information they receive which leads to fake new and now eventually deep fakes. And lastly addiction, although internet is a big part of our lives now, it is not real life and can engrain us in a very toxic vicious circle if we loose awareness that. I think it’s what leads people to addiction, they are now disconnected to the real world and are not satisfied by it so they find comfort in the internet because of how far it is from their actual life.
In conclusion : Internet is a great mess! There are so much problems here it’s incredible. I just wanted to talk about how it affects us and my own thoughts about it.

Guide for film
1. Start with a cheap camera, those are most of the time easier to manage so.. 2. Experiment, experiment, experiment, don’t be afraid to try new things whether it’s shooting expired film or anything else, you never know the results! 3. Keep every photo even the blurry ones, it will help you improving you technique and see you progress. 4. Journal about your photos, simply to remember, whether it’s the film you used, the date, the camera, write about it. 5. Slow down! As you don’t have much frames per rolls, take a moment to shoot, be patient. 6. Use the sunny rule, it’s very useful if you don’t have a light meter. 7. Recycle, recycle, recycle, please don’t throw your stuff away if you know you can use them again, pleaaase.
