If your organisation has been involved in improving the health and wellbeing of Belfast’s citizens at any time over the past 25 years, this is your opportunity to let others know of your achievements and be recognised for your contribution to making Belfast a healthier city. The Belfast Healthy Cities 25th Anniversary Awards which take place on Friday 29th November will recognise the wide range of activities and learning that tell the story of Belfast’s development as a World Health Organization European Healthy City.

Category Information Promoting Health Equity – for programmes and activities that aim to tackle inequalities in the city including addressing issues such as: socio-economic deprivation; fuel poverty; the needs of vulnerable and marginalised groups; and tackling lifestyle related inequalities.
Child Friendly Spaces
– for activities which: increase opportunities for play and recreation; improve access to and use of open spaces by children and young people aged 12 and under; including supporting the engagement of children and young people in decision making, planning and development processes within their communities.
Healthy Ageing –for programmes and activities that improve quality of life for older people by supporting healthy and active ageing; promote accessibility to services; promote independence; reducing isolation and loneliness while contributing to making the city a better place for people to grow older.

Active Living – for
Healthy and Sustainable Food (sponsored
programmes and activities that promote leisure and sporting activities including dance; active and healthy travel including cycling and walking initiatives; volunteering; and heritage and environmental programmes, which support active living.
