Corporate Event Hampshire – Hampshire Chamber of Commerce Annual Boat Show Lunch
Today I had the pleasure of attending the Annual Boat Show lunch at the Southampton Grand Harbour hotel, hosted by the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce. This hugely popular event saw 130 passionate business men and women come together for a networking opportunity, followed by entry to the famous Boat Show – a chance to marvel at the most magnificent vessels of the sea, at the largest outdoor boat show in Europe. The event started with a reception drink of bubbly fizz, whilst we all had the opportunity to forge new business relationships and beneficial connections with the other attendees. Once seated, we were treated to a delicious meal and I was lucky enough to be sat with some fabulous people from varied industries and sectors – conversations flowed and so did the laughs! After lunch it was time for the keynote speakers to take centre stage, and this year it was Chris Gregory and Jake Sheaf – TeamGB Beach Volleyball Professional Athletes. You literally couldn’t miss these guys – 7ft and 6ft 5in respectively! It was a difficult job watching these 2 toned, muscular and athletic men talking about their route to sporting success – but someone had to do it Both Chris and Jake explained how they had experienced various hurdles, injuries and personal issues to reach the pinnacles of their careers, and that they had their sights firmly set on achieving gold in the 2018 Commonwealth games – a goal that I have no doubt will be achieved purely on their immense dedication to their game. They closed their talk with a powerful statement that they said inspired them every day – ‘Don’t be good…….be great’ – And I would say that this pretty much sums up our ethos here at Ginger!
