5 Advanced Yoga Poses Even Yoga Instructors Dream of Trying If you are a yoga enthusiast, you must be aware how difficult is to do even the simple-looking yoga poses. Yoga test one’s strength and flexibility in the body. However with experience and regular practice, one can excel and even do advanced poses. Don’t you love watching yoga teachers and practitioners tying themselves into unbelievable poses? Of course, most of such poses are not for a beginner. Eka Hasta Vrksasana – One handed tree pose


Can you balance your body upside down with two hands? Isn’t it tricky enough? However, some yogis can do it on even one! Eka Hasta Vrksasana is part of 5th and 6th series in Ashtanga. This pose requires super core strength, mental focus and of course a strong wrist which can balance the entire body on one of them.

Sirsa Padasana – Head to foot pose


Sirsa padasana is one of the most intense backbends. It requires multiple things in the same pose, like balance, intense mental focus and obviously a combo of muscular strength in the back. In addition, this pose also requires the extensive flexibility of the spine.

Pungu Mayurasana – Wounded peacock

This pose is similar to peacock pose but done using only one arm. Mayurasana pose strengthens wrists, shoulders, and arms and also helps improve digestion as pressure is applied by the arms. The one-armed version of this asana makes the challenge all the tougher which requires extreme mental focus.


Hanumasana – Split pose

Split pose needs flexibility in the hamstring and groin. In addition, a practitioner also needs strong abs and outer hips to avoid overstretching. Some of the prep poses for Hanumasana


are – down dog split, triangle, standing forward fold and reclined big toe pose. To work in a full-fledged manner, place a block under each hand as well as hips to do the right position.

Bakasana - Crow pose


Crow pose is balancing the entire body on your arms! It may look like a version of childhood game leapfrog. The only difference is your body will float on the air with only your arms on the ground. It requires immense core and arm strength to do this yoga pose. If you are a beginner, it is not suggested to do these poses. In addition, even if you are a regular yoga practitioner, perform these asanas under the supervision of your yoga trainer.
