“Inside my empty bottle I was constructing a lighthouse, while all the others where making ships. - Charles Simic
Introduction
I
n this book you will find a collection of some of my favourite bottles and jars, some that serve a purpose and some that I simply keep just to look good and photograph. I love to photograph the collection I have and spend most of my time making sure the images are stunning. The most amazing images I take can be found printed out and pined up on my wall. My obsession with collecting empty bottles and jars started about a year ago when I developed an interest in steampunk and crafting. I stumbled across a few home crafting ideas on the internet, where people had reused empty old bottles and jars and created things such as terrariums, lamp shades and Jewellery. I took a liking to the ideas and started collecting bottles and jars my self to use in creative waysw. During the last year I have used the bottles and jars for small things like storing my coffee, using them as plant pots and using them to drink juice or cocktails from. But for the up coming summer I have planned to create terrariums and lamp shades of my own. My love for empty bottles and jars now feels very over powering and during my walks into town I find I cant help my self but to pop into the local charity shops and see if there are any more bottles worth taking home.
I could photograph bottles and jars all day. Every bottle and jar that I have in my collection has been photographed and a selected few have been placed in this book to show them off. Old bottles and jars can be reused in any way possible, they can be used to store things, for decoration, to drink from, to hold plants or even can be crafted into beautiful lamp shades. The possibilities are endless, and some of my favourite things to do with them are shown in this book. Have a collection of bottles your self and looking for some inspiration? Well hopefully this book will help you out and give you a few things to try out.
