At the very beginning of the project, I was really focused on developing a strong, conceptual design and promotional campaign for the YCN live competition brief to help our work really stand out, with a well rounded and considered design approach. I took on several responsibilities in this area including logo (particarly icon) development, promotional marketing and advertising development, and an initial decision to use the typeface ‘Quicksand’ for our design range.

Throughout the design project, I played an integral role in the design process, not only with generating designs for the final outcomes, but also through initial conceptual designs and the design “style” itself, aiming to achieve a must more consistent and considered brand and identity aesthetic than the one that the Graze brand currently works with. This was visually communicated in a bold, simple, three colour palette with an illustrative style to reflect the fun and simplicity of the brand.

Outside of the requested deliverables for the project outcomes, I had a real focus and ambition to push the online promotion and networking to show the effectiveness of the campaign in a real-life context. For finacial benefit and global reach, I put together both a Twitter and Facebook account, as well as propsing online interactive media such as a promotional website for a variety of digital devices such as laptops, iphones and ipads for instant access to the online services provided.

To summarise and complete the project for our YCN submission, I took on the responsibility to design the presentation boards for PDF ready submission, direct to the YCN site itself. For me, this was a great opportunity to try something new, and in terms of editorial design and layout, something that I feel needs far more attetention and work within my design portfolio. Hopefully the experiment proved sucessful, and was well received by Charlie.
