Plan and carry out a period of increasingly self-directed study through the appropriate use of workshop areas, studio activities and project management skills. Identify analyse and creatively respond to specified audiences, functions and contexts in order to produce professionally/socially/creatively appropriate design solutions to identified problems. Demonstrate the ability to source, select, evaluate and synthesise a variety of research and research methods in order to develop a self directed body of work in response to an identified brief. Explore and apply a range of appropriate practical and conceptual approaches in the development of work in response to own identified intentions and relevant practices. Identify, explore and critically evaluate practical/technical processes, materials and media in order to produce technically competent and conceptually appropriate outcomes. Demonstrate the ability to communicate the development and resolution of ideas through appropriate documentation, recording and presentation of work.

Your self-directed access to a range of media and technologies has allowed you to develop an individual body of work that has benefitted from an active use of the studio environment. Your analysis of the intended function and context of your work is very good. The conceptual development of your ideas has benefitted from an awareness of the appropriate and relevant functions of proposed products. Ongoing self-evaluation has allowed you to identify the potential in your ideas but this could have been exploited more fully. The work presented demonstrates a very good ability to inform your design decisions through a range of appropriate research methods. The selection and evaluation of your source material is very good and has allowed you to respond effectively to the problems in your selected brief.

The development of your work is very good and demonstrates a high level of practical investigation and application that could have been more consistent. You have identified a range of appropriate creative intentions that have been explored through a sustained investigation of appropriate practical approaches, testing and media investigation. The selection and resolution of your ideas is very good and demonstrates an ability to critically evaluate and apply a range of practical processes in order to produce a high level of technical application when resolving a range of clearly identified products. The processes and materials that you have selected suggest a high level of awareness when considering the relationship between product range and method of distribution that could have been more informed.
