Laura Burkitt Brides Magazine Vogue House Hanover Square London, W1S 1JU
For the attention of Laura Burkitt, Editor of Brides Magazine, Dear Laura, I am writing to apply for work experience at Brides magazine. In mind of the competition of the industry I am hoping to work in, I would like to specifically work alongside the picture editor. In order to support my application, I would like to enclose a sample pack that includes my Curriculum Vitae as well as samples of my portfolio and links to my photography website. As is evidenced in my CV, I have continued to develop my interest and experience with industry-standard equipment in a BA Photography Honours Degree. I feel confident in my knowledge of the use of medium format cameras as well as handling of film and digital files. I have recently been introduced to Capture One, which is an example of the importance of being aware of what the industry now demands of some of its photographers. I feel it is important in my practice to also be aware of the visual demand for the strong film aesthetic seen particularly in fashion and editorial work. As a result, a lot of my work has explored the creative possibilities of 35mm and 120 film. Having already worked in largely people-orientated workplaces and self-led projects, I am excited about managing the responsibilities of organizing & planning a shoot for future clientele. Having had previous experience as a fashion assistant had confirmed my excitement at working in a fast paced environment where I enjoy meeting the demands expected of me. Equally, I have started broadening my career as a wedding photographer and have an understanding of the variety of clientele from a different perspective. With both interests in mind, I have developed my strengths in my professional consultative approach, which has resulted in successful bookings for fashion assignments as well as photo-shoots and events. Both my technical skills and communication skills demonstrate a highly competent and organized work ethic with key necessary skills suited for today’s workplace. I feel confident that I could fit in with the team and be relied upon to complete tasks that use initiative, resourcefulness and creativity. I would like to reiterate my keenest interest for working in the Fashion industry. Work experience would provide me with the best opportunity to shadow key practitioners and to have the unique opportunity to gain feedback on what I need to develop and change in my own creative practice. I am open to discussing possible openings that the company may feel is suitable for a degree student. Any experience offered would be warmly received and I would grateful if you would keep my CV on file for future opportunities.
Kindest Regards,
Miss Jessie Leong Photography Student, Leeds College of Art

27- Nov-12, I am writing to apply for work experience at your company. In mind of the competition of the industry I am hoping to work in, I would like to request a review of my work enclosed in my sample pack that includes my Curriculum Vitae. As is evidenced in my CV, I have facilitated my interest and experience with industry-standard equipment photography in a BA Photography Honours Degree. However, it is with interest that I wish to apply my knowledge learnt in the workplace, and thus feel an internship at Traveller Magazine would best demonstrate my capabilities. To offer a wide insight into my skills, I feel confident in my skills as a photographer, such as handling of film and digital files. I would be interested in exploring the roles working at a magazine that would lead towards career development. I have recently been introduced to Capture One, which demonstrates an acute awareness of what the industry now demands of some of its photographers. Working in camera, as well as having skills using post-editing programs such as Photoshop combine an understanding of the practicalities of shooting to a time frame, showing how important it is to consider the end output for the images. Having worked in large teams of people in employment as well as education, I feel confident in the workplace managing the responsibility given to me. I have worked to live briefs as well as self-led projects, meaning my skills are easily transferrable for working alongside clients. My skills as a photographer have involved sourcing locations and studios from region-wide locations in Yorkshire to nationwide studios, which require a good telecommunications manner in order to make the bookings. My strengths are in my personal and professional consultative approach, which has resulted in successful achievements in my photographic work. Both my technical skills and communication skills demonstrate a highly competent and organized work ethic with key necessary skills suited for today’s workplace. I feel confident that I could fit in with the team and be relied upon to complete tasks that use initiative, resourcefulness and creativity. I would like to reiterate my keenest interest for working in the magazine industry. Having the privilege to be selected for an internship would be an invaluable experience to shadow creative practitioners and have the unique opportunity to see where my skillset best fits me within the magazine. I eagerly await your response, and would be grateful if you would keep my CV on file for future opportunities suitable for a university student.
Kindest Regards,
