The Types of Body Shapes: Understanding and knowing your own body shape is the key to knowing how to accentuate your best assets and over all features which you like to personally show off more wearing specific types of clothing. One every women should know not only to feel confident in self but take pride in her image.

The Pear Body Shape For all the women out there that tend have a small frame on top with larger hips, and often the bottom and thighs also, you are classed as having a pear body shape if you did not know. This means when looking for clothes you should experiment in emphasizing your waist and de-emphasizing your lower body to create a balanced, hourglass appearance. Showing of that tiny waist of yours enhancing your flat stomach and good bust. When shopping always know what works for you, you should try to minimize your lower half and have all focus and attention made focus upward of your body. Balancing out your curvy bottom you can bring out the best in wearing a line skirts and high tailored pants this will only lengthen your body but make your shape look leaner where as fitted skirts such as pencil, or body cons will not flatter your behind or hips. Tops that will be solitary for you are the likes with a peplum or darts to the wait expanding the definition of your core, For example Billowy tops add volume to the bust with a snug fitting waist. Other tops that are suited for you are flowy materials and off the shoulders as you have a small frame your shoulders are not big and broad. This is a very common shape to have as many people in the public eye for instance; Kim Kardashian and BeyoncĂŠ pull off their curvaceous figure in flattering outfits sometimes braking the rules and allowing there selves to show off the assets their not supposed to.

Kim Kardashian

The Apple Body Shape: For a women who is classed as having a apple body shape, In proportion to your figure the most weight is carried around your middle selection called the midriff, this does not mean you have a large stomach it states that your centre of gravity or your extra weight lies in this typical area, because of this you don’t have a well defined waist. This body shape is usually a women who has very broad shoulders and a wide torso. It can be a bit of a mix and match as you will have very thin arms and shapely toned legs which are classed as your best asset which you want to enhance.

Shift dresses are a perfect match they skim over the lumps and bumps more mature women dot want to emphasize.

For you to feel to confidante in yourself and to ensure eyes aren’t focused on your midriff women tend to show of there best assets the bust and Legs. If you have an Apple shaped body then you must have a great bust, so don’t be afraid to flaunt it. For one Showing off your bust will not only emphasize one of your most amazing features, but it will also take attention away from your middle, to get this desired effect you should wear V-necks, or plunging necklines preferably floaty tops giving off a more flattering effect to your over all figure, shirts that are ruched in the middle will also give definition to your middle . A-line dresses, are the ones to watch this season as if unsure for any occasion whether it be day or night this will lengthen your body and draw attention to your upper part of your chest and bust, don’t be afraid to add an accessory of a chunky necklace on top this will not make you look top heavy just more stylish. whether you're tall or on the shorter side, don't be afraid to show off your shapely legs, you can show off this feature by wearing short shorts or a midi skirt paired with a pair of court heels giving off a more slender look. Although be aware of heavy boots or skin tight jeans as this will only make your legs look smaller and stunt your height.

Don’t be afraid to wear bright colors especially in summer as the vibrancy will make you look thinner in symmetric.

Boot cut jeans are made for apple body shaped women as they hold you in in all the right places. They are matched perfectly with a floaty off the shoulder top for that summers day or baggy jumper for Autumn/ Winter .

The Straight Body Shape: The key to dressing a Straight body type is to proportionally dress the top and bottom of your body while enhancing your waist. If you are comfortable doing so, you can wear form fitting clothing (such as a tube-type dress) and create a waist by adding a wide, dark belt. However, to create a more curvaceous effect add volume (or the illusion of volume) proportionally to your upper and lower body by mixing and matching suggested separates.

The Hourglass Figure If your a girl with a curvy hour glass figure then you middle of your waist line will tend to be smaller with a bigger bust. You’re blessed with a very sexy shape so you need to learn not to drown it in too-baggy clothes but also not go too overtly sexy either - unless that’s the look you’re going for! When shopping its best to know what suit you for your own shape; Wrap dresses, waistcinching belts and flared or wide leg jeans will work perfectly to suit you. Shapeless baggy jumpers will hide your wonderful waist, however this can be worn by adding a belt to accentuate your tiny waist.

The Rectangle Body Shape Rectangle ladies are fairly straight up and down though don’t always have the boyish chest to match. Many women would kill for your shape; there’s no main area you want to minimise so you can get away with more things than most. However you may crave more curves – an illusion easily created with the right clothing. Bring out your best: A structured coat that cinches in with a belt will make you look more curvy. If you’ve a small bust you can get away with tricky to wear high-necked tops. Best to avoid: Low rise jeans and trousers can make your torso look too long. Stay away from sheath dresses and stick to styles with more shape instead.

Oval Body Shape The key to dressing an Oval body type is to de-emphasize your midsection and create a more defined waist. This is achieved by choosing clothing that add curves and fullness to your lower body and tops that taper to a waist. You have amazing legs so feel free to play with skirt lengths, but don’t go too short otherwise you will further a top-heavy look. Please click on the thumbnails below to learn more about how to dress an Oval body type.

Interview with a stylist What is the difference between a stylist and a personal shopper? The difference between a stylist and a personal shopper is that if working for a brand the retail side to it is usually more restricted as its targeted at certain customers purchasing clothes from that store whereas a stylist is free lance being able to use their imagination giving tips o what they think will personally suit the specific client. They are able to not only suggests pieces of clothing from there shop but also match together outfits from other high street brands

What made you choose this a career? How did you get into becoming a stylist? ‘’ As I am Studying Fashion in Liverpool city college focusing on the Design aspect I felt that if I applied to work in shop in the city centre close to home it would allow me to have real experience of working in retail, giving me more of an insight into clothing and different styles on the current market today. As the job was enlisted for A personal stylist I felt I had to take full advantage of this opportunity and do my best to pass and be a pointed for the part time job. I was thrilled when I got a call back saying that I had been accepted, now 5 months on working there feel that I will continue working within this shop until I am in university as it will give me an advantage over others on my cv showing I have experienced working with others in the fashion industry however this will not be forever as I do not wish to do this full time. Do you like your job? What aspect of your career would you say is the best? ‘’Yes I can honestly say I do really enjoy working part time in oasis although it isn’t some where I would personally buy my own clothes from the reason for this is because my style is not the same as the pieces of clothing in this store, as I am only young I see the both the clothing and accessorise to be too mature for me. My favourite aspect of my job is that it enables me to use my own creativity as soon as I get a walk in or booking. In minutes of meeting my first client I know the ins and outs f there personality which I try to bring through into their clothes, I like to get to know the client well before I put something together allowing them to feel comfortable and confident. I enjoy making my client feel nice in what there new look, I specifically try and push there boundaries to try new things however if I see them not liking the end result I will not stop until they get the outcome they desire. Are there any aspects you don’t like about your job? ‘’The only aspect of my job I don’t particularly like is that I feel it is very structured, I don’t feel its that free the reason for this is because I can only use my clothing brand I work for to match with a piece of clothing in this shop, I am only allowed to give advise to the clientele to try other shops.

Are clients some times hard to please? ‘’Yes you can get clients who are quitter needy although I like to take a step back and realise it my job and I have to please them with what they ask for even if I don’t agree however always give my honest opinion. I never let a customer leave without being fully pleased with there final outcome.

What type of fashion inspires you? The type of fashion that I indulge myself in are Vintage and retro clothing I love the real essence of quirkiness. I believe being different makes you stand out from the crowd I like to mix my style up I would say I’m, very boho shique as I like wearing sloppy off the shoulder jumpers but also like the cute tasselled cut out tops. Although I am not one for heels, I like the comfy cosy look a pair of converse or wedged pumps on my feet are perfect. What type of style recently has been your Favourite for a particular client? My favoruite style recently was quite crazy I completely changed her view on the type of clothing she wore as she had a very curvaceous figure I shown her how to accentuate it rather than wearing baggy clothes that did nothing to flatter, tight waist pencil skirts and figure hugging dresses which flared like a peplum at the hem were perfect for her as they enhanced her figure and shown off her real assets. I was really pleased with this as she left feeling confident and as if she had ten years took off.

This is Stavroula, 17 years old from Ormskirk. I liked her style as she showed that even in winter you can look stylish. Her knitted scarf from Zara plunged around her neck gave much body and depth as the black contrasted in well with her over sized knee length coat. I love how her she accentuated her waist by adding a ralph Laurent belt to show of her figure allowing for her beige polo to shine through. Her style was very modern as she dressed it up with a pair of aubergine tasselled wedge Topshop pumps that made her have that height.

This is Quincy, 22 years old from London. An oxford boy at heart you can see he is dressed smart. Half suited. His jacket showed to me as if he likes to look like a business man. I like how his light pink shirt enhanced his complexion. However I think the jeans he wore did not match this was because I believe if you are going to wear half a suited piece you may as well wear the full outfit as it can look like your trying to hard which shows that the expense did not pull off as hoped. although his pump shoes look very on trend.

Shereen

This is Holly, 18years old from Liverpool. I loved the elements of all styles she had going on, I thought that her dress sense was very fun and quirky. The un zipped all saints leather jacket showed off her punky side I think it matched really well with her long grey t shirt as it oozed funk, however do think that it could look quite bland to different on lookers. Her knee high river island boots made her legs lengthened and fashionable./

This is Shereen, 20 years old from Liverpool city centre. I thought that she has a very in formal look. Her style shown me she liked clothes that had more room in, baggy but liked to accessories with huge hoop earing to dress it up. Her grey tartan chequered Topshop coat was very appealing as it looked very up to date for this season as white and greys made for a vibrant take. Her dark shaded scarf left to hang looked very day time and made for a cosy outfit.

A winter folk story that goes beyond classic, rustic-nature interpretations by adding a dreamy mysticism and a premium look and feel, updating traditional references with a sense of modern romanticism

• Refined folk references connect with contemporary casualwear to inspire unexpected tactile surfaces for functional basics and a softer, prettier ‘modern gothic’ feel. Obscure symbols and ritual traditions provide darker undertones and inspire decorative finishes, ornaments and details.

A pared-back romanticism lends this soft gothic story subtle historical undertones, creating a darker styling direction that mixes oddly layered proportions with aged textures and colours. Premium elements such as pearls and metallic finishes feel worn rather than pristine for an understated, slightly dishevelled take on luxury.

New material constructions and finishes replicate the laundered surfaces of well-loved wardrobe favourites with all the over-worn qualities that form their personality. Softly brushed fabrics in wool, mohair and alpaca blends emphasise the soft lines and robe-like silhouettes of tactile and cosy loungewear pieces.

• In an elevated adaptation of traditional folk references, natural plush and felted textures are rethought with an unassuming, sometimes unexpected, look to update familiar shapes without making them look ostentatious. High-end materials feel humble and played down, taking on a less dressy and more functional role in this new casual fur direction.

• Familiar folkloric ideas are overlaid with fantastical narratives to inspire pattern and embellishment in this story. Decorative jacquards and embroideries combine global heritage influences and a mystical symbolism with rustic fabrics and classic outdoor styling for a dreamy, thoughtful take on authentic

Colour application and finishes evoke a sense of ritual decoration, and bring out the shamanic side of new folk mysticism. Daubed, painted and dipped techniques have a ceremonial feel, where the actual process has as much higher significance as the expressive effect it produces, suggesting a greater meaning behind the product.

Make up and Hair Inspiration for my both Location and studio shoot Photo-shoot 1: location

Dramatic Dark musky shadowed eyes matched with a nude lip convey to me a gothic fairy-tale like effect. As it shows a sweet innocent look yet gloomy element. The cheek bones are accentuated using bronze and shimmer for the enhancement. Channels theme for Karl lager fields 2012 show was my inspiration for my soot as they used similar tones and colours in make up. The artist who styled hair also made me want to try and create a effect of a messy windswept look.

The Roles of a personal Stylist will have to peform are in different locations for example: editorial styling (magazine and newspapers); commercial fashion styling (advertising); in fashion shows and events; and as personal stylists for individual clients. The trend that influenced my photo-shoot was called Transcend. I picked this particular trend because It stood out to me personally out of all of the research I looked into on WGSN, I loved how the visual images gave me imaginative ideas in which I could use as a guide to have my own take on a type of theme inspired by transcend. I got the feel of old meets new through both the research and imagery. The photos gave me many ideas of how I could style my own shoot for example the image of the female with horns on as you can see to the right this picture captured me into thinking it had an element of a Grecian goddess look. The bulls horns look fierce which I felt would make for a edgy shoot if I were to use a similar object for on top of my models forehead. I Loved also the colour palette as it gave me subtle tones of Paley pinks and light greys. Transcend to me told two different story's as I saw light and darkness in both with feelings of romance, love and fantasy. After lots of thinking I came up with what I was going to prepare my shoot for, my end result I wanted to achieve was fantasy and fairy tale. A mix between both aspects. I planned for my location shoot to have a scene which was full of edge and quirkiness through a medieval take on darkness by using horns to suggest this element, I planned to style my models make up dark and gloomy in contrast to the over all effect with dark shadows and a plum musty lip matched with bronzed highlight cheekbones. My second shoot I focused on fairy-tale and goddesses. Full of light, sweet and innocence. I wanted to reflect my first theme to this as a kind of abstract. I planned to have my model posing more subtle wearing a silky see through fabricated dress. The make up and hair for this was styled to look messy as my first shoot although this time I twisted twigs and flowers around her hair to create a chic and subdued look, her make up was styled vibrant with light violet and purple shadows for the eyes and crystalized lip. I used glitter to cover half of her face showing that fairy-tale like look. The preparation of my shoot I thoroughly enjoyed, by researching into how I could achieve my desired look I need to know how to position my model so that I could take different angles and create unique aspects. I made many hand drawn mood boards along the way and watched many make up an hair tutorials online so that I could gain more practice for the real shoot. I believe my shoot was extremely Successful as i had fun on set and found it easy to interact with my model when photographing, I feel I was fully prepared for both the location shoot and studio shoot which made my job easier which meant I had total focus. I found it really helped myself as I modelled for my trend also it shown me an insight into how different looks could be perceived over camera doing something I haven't before. I fi were to do this photo-shoot again I would maybe do a couple of more location shoots as this was my favourite I never knew work could be so fun. When I had chosen my favourite images I then was able to make my front covers for my magazine I found this to extremely interesting as Photoshop allowed me to manipulate my images to their full potential creating new and cool effects which seemed to work in better with my trend I picked, I chose to look into Love Magazine not only because this is one of my favourite fashion magazines I read regularly myself but I believe my design matched perfectly as most of my imagery shows a mixtures of emotion and edgy effects.
