Celebrate O'Fallon, Illinois, and its history through the first annual Founders' Day event! 168 years ago, almost to the day, a parcel auction was held very near the current O'Fallon Station. The town lots auctioned helped create our current downtown O'Fallon. In honor of that, we are recreating the auction and selling O'Fallon experiences, proceeds to benefit the O'Fallon Historical Society. Additional activities include horse and trolley rides, a championship pie bake off contest and historic kids' games like hoop and stick and sack races. St Jacob UCC Strawberry Fest, May 15th, 11am-4pm, St. Jacob Township Park. Strawberry desserts, grilled brats, hotdogs, and pork burgers. Homemade German potato salad and baked beans. May is here and farmer’s markets are finally coming back in full swing! Here’s everything you need to know to support our community farmer’s markets this summer.

The Land of Goshen Community Market When: Saturdays, from 8am -12pm, May 7th - Oct. 15th , rain or shine. Where: 100 St. Louis Street, Edwardsville Info: Since 1997, The Land of Goshen Community Market has been bringing fresh produce, locally raised meat, fresh eggs, baked goods, hand made crafts and art from local artisans to the Metro East. Besides shopping, there’s also live music, yoga and demonstrations from local artisans. Also, be sure to check out Market Sprouts, an interactive and educational program for kids where they’ll learn to how to grow food and while doing fun, hands on activities. Maryville Farmers Market When: Thursdays, from 5pm-7pm, May 12th - Sept. 8th Where: Fireman's Park, 300 N. Donk, Maryville. Info: The Maryville Farmers Market began in 2018. It has a great selection of locally grown and raised produce and meats, as well as baked goods, local honey, fresh flowers, hand made goods, live music and food trucks. Starting this year, they will be alternating some of the markets with the Old Herald Square at 115 E. Clay Street in Collinsville beginning June 23rd. Alton Farmers’ & Artisans’ Market When: Saturdays, May 7 - Oct. 15, from 8am -12pm, rain or shine. Where: Located on the corner of Landmarks Blvd and Henry St. in downtown Alton. Info: The Alton Farmers' and Artisans' Market offers a variety of handcrafted items, produce, locally raised meat, plants cheese eggs, local honey and baked goods. It happens in the parking lot of the Eastgate Plaza in East Alton. Along with the usual fresh produce, this market also sells BBQ sauces, local honey, fresh flowers, pies, cheesecake, baked bread, pork rinds, buffalo meat and handcrafted goods. Info: Spending the morning at Vine Street Market is great way to start the weekend! Being one of the largest farmers markets in the Metro East, it has everything you could ask for including over 60 vendors with local food and art, live music, and food trucks. Brunch Fruit Tart Crust: 4 cups granola mixture ½ cup butter, softened 4 ½ tablespoons honey nonstick cooking spray Toppings: strawberries, sliced blueberries kiwis, sliced

Filling: 2 ¼ cups vanilla Greek yogurt 8 ounces cream cheese, softened ½ cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 package gelatin

To make crust: Preheat oven to 350 F. In large bowl, combine granola, butter and honey. Grease 11-inch tart pan with nonstick cooking spray. Line bottom of tart pan with parchment paper. Press granola mixture into tart pan. Place tart pan on baking sheet and bake 10 minutes. Cool completely. To make filling: Using mixer, combine yogurt, cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract and gelatin until whipped completely. Pour yogurt mixture into tart crust. Refrigerate at least 1 hour.
