A Look Back at a Timeless Space Designed by Matthew Carter

Famed designer Yves Saint Laurent is famously quoted as saying, “Fashion fades, style is eternal.” Similar principles of timelessness can be applied to interior design. Case in point is this Chinoe Road home, designed by Matthew Carter and featured in our July/August 2010 issue. According to Carter, he and the homeowner “share a love of clean, classic-looking backgrounds that make antiques look modern.” By embracing the past with a forward-facing perspective, Carter captures the elusive everlastingness more often strived for than achieved.
