SOPHISTICATED GIVING: LIVING ARTS & SCIENCE CENTER
The Living Arts & Science Center in Lexington has been profoundly affected by COVID-19. As an organization known for hands on discovery, the ongoing pandemic has been very challenging. The doors to the Center have been closed since March 2020, but LASC is slowly re-opening to in person activities. Guests can call for an appointment to see our art galleries, currently featuring exhibits by Kentucky artist and Afro-Futurist, Aye Aton, and Black Lives Matter: A Call for Positive Change. The Center is committed to providing quality arts and science education. Our mission is even more important today with so many children learning from home in non-traditional instruction. Spring break, No School Days, and Summer Camps for children will be offered in both in person and virtual formats. Throughout the pandemic, we have continued with virtual afterschool programs in seven Title One schools in Lexington, sharing fun and inventive STEAM activities. It is important that underserved students do not fall further behind. Scholarships are available for families with financial need. LASC wants to be your resource for education in all ways possible, meeting you in your homes even when you can’t come to the Center. Pre K Art Day can be found every Tuesday morning at 10:00 am on Facebook Live. Innovative art and science videos and lesson plans are available on our You Tube Channel The Living Think where thinkers explore common myths, learn about the scientific method and observe the world around them. Adults have opportunities to take virtual classes or attend a safe and socially distanced event, too. Until The Living Arts & Science Center can fully welcome you back into the building, we continue to be… The Place Where Creativity Grows!
