If You can Make it There...Fermob’s NYC Success story
Fermob's journey is one of passion, innovation, and the pursuit of an extraordinary dream. It all began in 1989 when Bernard Reybier acquired a small workshop in the picturesque village of Thoissey, nestled in Burgundy, France. With just 11 employees, Reybier boldly proclaimed, "We are an international company," setting the stage for a remarkable adventure that would take Fermob's creations far beyond French borders.
Fermob's American dream took flight in 1992 with the transformation of New York City's Bryant Park. Once a notorious hotspot for crime, Bryant Park underwent a significant rehabilitation effort led by Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) Andrew Manshel, the park's associate director, meticulously searched for the perfect chair, culminating in selecting Fermob’s cedar green Bistro chair
The installation of 2,000 green Bistro chairs marked the beginning of a new chapter for the park, with visitors discovering the freedom to
move and arrange these chairs, creating a dynamic and inviting space for social interaction.
Fermob's success in Bryant Park paved the way for further installations across New York City, including the vibrant Poppy-colored Bistro chairs in Times Square Nowadays, the chairs are part of the everyday life of all New Yorkers
