The process of change in usually quite slow, unless of course something unexepected, and of major significance occurs. Over the last few decades we have been witnessing a rather slow but continually developing interest in such themes as environmental issues, human rights and the quality of different forms of democracy. What people are seeking is a new balance which, in all fields, from economics to architecture, and from nutrition to politics, calls for respect and justice. Creative Empathy is the meeting place to discuss the great challenges that lie ahead for the coming decades: architecture for social business, post carbon architecture, urban renovation and resilience. These topics will be discussed during two workshops with the SOS tutors in collaboration with ARCò, SUPER, ActionAid and LAP. The goal is to critically analyse the future we want and rethink the city of Milan according to the principles of sustainability, social participation and creativity.

SOS WORKSHOP #2 Milan: a children’s city Friday 15th April 2016 A workshop in collaboration with ActionAid Italia and LAP - Laboratorio di Architettura Partecipata The goal is to rethink the idea of city and Porta Genova neighborhood along with children of a local primary school.
The workshop will focus on Baden-Powell Park, close to Creative Empathy space at Superstudio Più, in via Tortona 27. The aim is to identify children’s feelings, dreams, proposals and critical issues of the park. The workshop will start at the primary school with a first meeting between ActionAid operators and children involved. The operators will introduce the activities and the tasks to be accomplished, limiting stereotypes that can influence children perception. The children will be asked to express themselves according to their needs and their dreams, with the support of a specially prepared document. A “neighborhood walk” will follow to the intervention area. The workshop will conclude at Creative Empathy space (Superstudio Più Basement) where the children along with a professional facilitator will carry out a co-design workshop in collaboration with operators and studio’s architects. .
At the end of the day, two projects will be finalized by children groups for a children-oriented Baden Powell Park. The operators will be the spokesman of children with the local institutions, especially with Zone 6 Council, trying to lay the foundations towards a greater involvement of children in the administration choices. The commitment of the children will be rewarded with an "attentive and active citizen certificate" with the aim to promote children interest towards the places that they live everyday Note On 15th April at 5pm, SOS OPEN #5 - Architecture, community and social participation, a public talk with Mario Cucinella, founder at SOS, and Marco De Ponte, Secretary General at ActionAid Italia.
