hink you’ve explored all the attractions in St. Louis? Hidden behind the famous landmarks of the city remain the most charming towns and lavish farmers' markets. Take a day to explore all the hidden gems in St. Louis. Located just 30 miles west of St. Louis lies the quaint town of St. Charles. Step back into colonial times when visiting historic South Main Street. Enjoy a day of shopping where more than 125 boutiques, restaurants and attractions line the streets. Stroll along the original brick-paved streets or take a magical carriage ride to appreciate the scenery. Be sure to visit the Lewis and Clark Boathouse & Museum and learn how the duo discovered the Gateway to the West. Also, don’t pass up the Missouri Artists on Main, which features over 50 original works of fine art from Missouri artists. Lewis and Clark Boathouse & Museum and exploring. Relax and admire the historic architecture surrounding the town while browsing through over 20 shops offering an array of unique goods. Stop by for lunch at one of the famous restaurants in town, The Blue Owl, serving classic comfort food among award-winning baked goods such as the Levee High Apple Pie. Several top attractions include a visit to the historic estate of Fred and Mabel-Ruth Anheuser and a handful of seasonal festivities such as the Strawberry Festival in June and Apple Butter Festival in October. St. Louis does not have a shortage when it comes to farmers’ markets. Take a road trip and visit all of St. Louis’ exceptional fresh markets. The city’s oldest farmers’ market, Soulard Farmers’ Market, is open year-round and features over 140 vendors offering local-made goods and fresh produce. Stop by Tower Groves Farmers’ Market on Saturday morning where live music, free yoga and fresh produce combine to create a spectacular day. Kirkwood Farmers’ Market can round out the day where garden-fresh fruits and vegetables spill over the stands and tantalizing samples are ready to be eaten.
