1 Led by Helen Knight You will learn how to build a wealth of musical activities which can be drawn on easily and which will ease the planning of music sessions, giving you more time to spend making music with your children. Helen has been a Music Facilitator and Workshop Leader for soundLINCS since January 2003. She’s experienced in Early Years work and has run many soundLINCS Early Years sessions and enriched the lives of hundreds of local children, parents and carers by incorporating music, dance, and music games into their every day activities.

4 Led by Sandy Bywater Clay is a brilliant, stimulating and tactile medium that early years children can really enjoy playing with. You will create textures and patterns in clay tiles and we will fire them later in a professional kiln.

Sandy is a Ceramic Artist working in porcelain for its whiteness and translucency. She loves working in clay as it’s an extremely versatile material and can be shaped into almost anything. Sandy’s practice also includes teaching and running workshops and she works in a variety of settings, with people of all ages and abilities, sharing her passion and enthusiasm for the arts for its creative and therapeutic benefits.

5 Led by Andy Mason Andy has curated many exhibitions with and for young people - he hopes his workshop will encourage you to view a visit to a gallery as a fun learning experience for young children.

Andy has run his own studio since 1986, consequently gaining much valuable practical, and associated professional, experience. He likes to use rich, colourful glazes and still gets a thrill from pressing the button on his electric kiln controller.

6 Led by Eddy Mentzel Eddy will be using iPads to demonstrate a variety of tried and tested music apps for early year’s activities. This workshop will be a chance for you to explore and create music using the iPads, and gain advice from a music technology specialist.

Eddy Mentzel has been working as a Music Facilitator for the past 10 years. Specialising in music technology, he has worked with soundLINCS in a diverse range of settings and with groups from early years to adult. More recently Eddy has been delivering full class iPad workshops in primary schools across the county.

Cathy, a soundLINCS Music Facilitator with over seven years of experience in music making activities with Early Years children, has worked in a range of settings from nursery schools to hospitals where she has music as a tool to help develop communication skills, self-confidence and other skills that can be used throughout later life.
