Sound Thought is the annual music composition, performance and research conference run by Glasgow University music department post-graduates. Sound Thought 2011, created in partnership with The Arches, Glasgow, will take the form of a three-day music-focused multi-arts conference/festival, and is committed to platforming innovative, groundbreaking performance work in the field of sound. We are inviting proposals for actions, events, ideas to form part of an interdisciplinary performance programme, which will focus on the consideration of sonic transmission and reception, and on interrogation of sound materials, space, and performance context. Successful proposals will be programmed as part of this new three-day event, which will consist of performance/installation work, music composition, workshops, papers and discussion aimed at sparking dialogue between our various means, methods, and disciplines.

Technical requirements (time, space and resources will be limited under festival conditions) CV’s of those involved Proposed duration (pieces with durations from 5 minutes to 30 minutes as well as installation based or durational work are welcomed, a limited number of longer pieces of up to one hour can also be considered). Space requirements (spaces range from multiple small rooms to larger bricked spaces). There is no commissioning money for this festival at present but some rehearsal space, marketing support, inclusion in a Sound Thought brochure and technical support can be provided.
