IP-Network Card G7-WAN Intercom Servers with a WAN card act as a network node, like a gateway in the Internet. Now, this gateway can be used to link up to 120 ‘regions’. A region is defined as a complete, integrated, local Intercom network. These networks have a uniform 4-digit dialling code system with no

G7-WAN-8 IP-Network card for Intercom Servers for supra-regional networking. Up to 8 Intercom Servers can be addressed directly. Up to 8 conversations with 7 kHz, 16 conversations with 3.5 kHz, music programmes or radio channels can be accessed simultaneously with the maximum bandwidth. Each of these connections can be defined as a regional connection (LAN with full range of features, also to G7-CNET-LAN) or a multi-regional connection (WAN with limited range of features).

2.

G7-WAN-16 (not pictured) Same as G7-WAN-8 however with 16 connections per card (maximum 8 conversations with 7 kHz, 16 conversations with 3.5 kHz simultaneously).

limitation of features. In order to interconnect the regions, in the supra-regional Intercom network they are assigned 1- to 4-digit prefix codes. In this way, up to 30,000 subscribers are able to communicate directly with each other.

3.

GEA-WAN Installation board for the G7-WAN network card with shielded RJ 45 connectors and status LEDs, for use in a GE 700 or in the interface housing GEI 200 (required for GE 200).

SPEECH CHANNELS The maximum number of conversations depends on the following factors: • The available bandwidth (maximum 10/100 MBit can be used)

EXTENT OF SUPPLY

• The number of conversations the G7-WAN can handle • All Calls / Radio Conferences with 3.5 or 7 kHz

REQUIREMENTS OF THE NETWORK YES

Dedicated Network

A dedicated network always consists of equipment of one type, e.g. only G7-WAN

YES

Non Dedicated Network with QoS (Quality of Service)

QoS controls the data stream in the network and ensures, that the speech packets are delivered within the demanded time

NO

Non Dedicated Network without QoS (Quality of Service)

99 % of all Corporate Networks, that are between 3 and 5 years old, are Non Dedicated Networks!

IP-Addresses and Ports: • Each G7-WAN must have a fixed IP-address • The communication to the central requires port 16384 (can be changed) QoS Requirements: • Maximum one-way-delay 100 ms • Delay-Jitter not above 50 ms • 0% packet loss for perfect audio quality Commend, Inc. · 63 Ramapo Valley Road, Suite 201 · Mahwah, New Jersey 07430 · Tel. G7-WAN

Planning Information MAXIMUM EXPANSION • Up to 120 regions • Up to 14,280 networked Intercom Servers • Up to 30,000 subscribers are able to communicate with each other within the entire WAN network

1. CALCULATE THE NUMBER OF WAN-CLIENTS The following counts as a WAN-client: • Each intercom terminal, that initiates or receives conversations across a WAN-connection • Each input, that initiates a input message across a WAN-connection • Each output which is switched across a WAN-connection (via dialling or as attendant contact). Outputs which are switched via after dialling (e.g. door openers) do not count as WAN-client. • Include a reserve of clients for future expansions!

2. NUMBER OF VIRTUAL CENTRAL NUMBERS PER REGION • Virtual central numbers must be unique (only supra-regional, therefore multiple WAN-cards within a region central can share a virtual number). • Per 250 WAN-Clients one virtual central number is required. • The range for virtual central numbers is 136 to 255. Therefore a maximum of 120 virtual central numbers are available; each region requires a minimum of one virtual number so a maximum of 120 regions are possible.

3. MAXIMUM CENTRAL NUMBER 239 • Available central numbers: 1 to 119. Available virtual central numbers: 136 to 255.

4. NUMBER OF G7-WAN (MAXIMUM OF 4 PER CENTRAL) • Calculate the required amount of G7-WAN depending on the number of connections to the regions • A maximum of 64 connections per central(housing) is possible. If more connections are required a second GE 700 can be used, however this housing needs a separate virtual central number. • Therefore, if all centrals need to communicate with each other a maximum of 64 regions can be realised.

Installation INSTALLATION

PRECAUTIONS

• For connection of the G7-WAN the enclosed installation board GEA-WAN has to be used.

• ESD precautions must be observed.

• In a central GE 700 the card can be installed in the slots 8 to 12, A or B of the central, a maximum of 4 network cards (G7-WAN, G7-CNET-LAN, G7-CNET-W and G7-CNET-E1 all together) per housing.

• Mounting and installation of the centrals and of the equipment may be carried out by authorised service personnel only.

• In a central GE 200 the G7-WAN-8 card can be installed in the slots 9 or 10 of the central (interface housing GEI 200, a maximum of 2 cards). The G7-WAN-16 card is not supported in a GE 200.

SYSTEM CONFIGURATION • It is not possible, to define two parallel G7-WAN between two centrals. It is also not possible, to establish a second connection over other centrals (e.g. like a ring) – Except for redundancy. • Attention: If Ring 2 is used for connection of centrals GE 700 over G7-GEV, no G7-WAN can be used in this housing, because Ring 2 would have to be connected to the G7-WAN. Example:

GE 700 #1 G7-GEV Slot C
