Choctaw Casinos Pivot3® Saves More Than $300,000 in Acquisition and Operating Costs for an IP Surveillance Expansion Project
The User “Serverless Computing changed the game for us, and we have been able to cut costs at the same time that we are increasing the quality of the storage that supports our surveillance needs.” — Jason Pritchard, Integration Manager, Choctaw Nation
The Challenges • Meet the technical needs of a major surveillance expansion program in an economic downturn with tight budgetary restrictions • Reduce power and cooling requirements in a remote deployment location • Meet strict gaming regulations without expensive server clustering technology
The Solution The Choctaw Casino deployed more than two petabytes of Pivot3 Serverless Computing storage with embedded virtual servers. By loading video management application software directly on the Pivot3 Serverless Computing platform, the casinos stripped out over 90 physical servers from the project. In addition to the green benefits of nearly 70 kilowatts saved, the casino saved more than $300,000 in server acquisition costs and limited data center build-out costs by eliminating more than four racks of servers. Lastly, the casino deployed Pivot3 VM Failover™ technology to help meet gaming regulations, so that applications running on the platform would automatically restart in the case of an appliance failure.
