Bariatric Surgery Support Group Meeting Held at Durbanville Medi Clinic Date: 2.04.19 at 6:00pm

NEXT MEETING: 16th April at the 3rd floor Boardroom, Medpark 2 - N1 City rooms Please save my cell number on your phone in order to receive any broadcast messages from me: 073 141 2580 – Bambine

Information and Notes As noted down in my non-professional understanding of everything discussed at the meeting.

Meeting attended by Committee: Bambine Rogers (073-141-2580) and Collette Julyan, Rhine Barnes, Judy and we were very lucky to have both Dr. Swannepoel and Dr. Potgieter present. Some things discussed and brought up…

Many new faces were welcomed and always good to see our regulars! We were lucky to have both our Doctors present for the meeting.

Supplements were discussed again. Taking a Vit C with Iron will help absorb it better. Feramino Forte is a good example to have with an extra Vit C tablet. Autrin is one of the better ones for Iron, Again don’t forget your Vit B12 shot once every 10 weeks, Multi Vitamin (DS24), Calciferol, OR of course the very Yummy Bari Complete… One of our members Susan gave us a very nice talk about how drinking alcohol affected her life after surgery and Alcohol fee drinks. THANK YOU Susan. There are so many options available to us. Here       

are a few samples of what we were shown, and there are many more! Almost Xero - Makro, Tops and Checkers liquor Lancers - Makro Ver-gin online at verginsa.co.za Pura - Engin and Pick & Pay Toni Class at some pick and Pays and certain Spars Little Wolf Virgin Cider - Tops and Checkers liquor Castle Free – Everywhere

We often forget about the amount of calories in alcoholic drinks and the effect that alcohol can have on people who have had bariatric surgery. Thank you again Susan for sharing your experience!

Below is some feedback.     

Maybe someone like an image consultant to give advice on how to dress for your body type. Dr. Wouter Basson to come and talk to us. Excess skin when not at goal weight yet. Clothes donation and swops, we can't all keep buying new things as we get thinner. At the moment I could put the energy bunny to shame as I have more energy than what I can account for. I have noticed these energy spurts that last a week or more and is definitely directly related to when my gut/colon is working well. I am often on the opposite side with near constipation issues and much lower energy levels. I would very much like a detailed talk on how to manage our changed constitution and the relationship of our colon health and energy levels. Dietary is a major part of this fine balance but often I feel as if there is more to it?

Please JOIN OUR FACEBOOK PAGE! We encourage members to be more active on our Facebook group as this will encourage others. Share recipes, ideas and ‘before and after’ pics are always a great motivation to others. This group is private and can’t be seen by the public. You will have to send Sandi (Sandi Loggenberg) or myself (Bambine Rogers) a ‘Facebook friend request’ (Please add a message saying you would like to be added to the group), we will then add you to the group. I know I don’t accept random friend requests, so please state who you are and your intentions for befriending me, else I might just think you’re a stalker and I don’t add you. lol.

Feedback always appreciated on any issues discussed at the meeting and or questions anyone might have. bambinerogers@gmail.com
