Information and Notes As noted down in my non-professional understanding of everything discussed at the meeting.
Meeting attended by Committee: Bambine Rogers (073-141-2580), Collette Julyan, Rhine Barnes, Judy Kotze, Dr. Potgieter and members. Sandi Loggenberg (083 603 0365) sent apologies. Rhine welcomed everyone and introduced our regular professionals. Dr.Potgieter introduces some guest speakers. A few speakers: Joy Braaf and Wayne Damons – Yad-Marpe Physiotherapists Sauri – The lean box – Nutritional ready meals to your door Some things discussed: Dr Potgieter introduced us to Sauri. The Lean Box: Sauri is 2 years post op and makes meals for specific needs such as ‘ours’. Meals have all the correct portion sizes that we will need per meal. She delivers straight to your door for a whole week’s worth of meals. All at very reasonable prices. She will be in discussion with Judy Kotze to finalise a nice menu to best suit everyone’s needs. It was brought up that some members feel that they hit a plateau:
our resident Dietitian and Dr.Potgieter confirmed that this is VERY normal. Everyone will go through this at some point. Some earlier than others. The important thing is to continue to watch what you eat and try and exercise as and when you get a chance. Try and make a food journal and see if you are doing everything as you should be doing and also feel free to contact Judy.

At our next meeting at Durbanville Medi Clinic on the 27th November, members are asked and encouraged to please bring along a friend, family member or partner that has gone through this journey with you. The husband of a member has previously asked important questions on “how to support his partner, when to get involved”, when to help by saying “Should you be eating that” etc… Bring them along and let’s see what their questions and concerns are in their journey of support to us!
