HKTDC Hong Kong Fashion Week to Spotlight Activewear Angela Velasquez
The 21st edition of HKTDC Hong Kong Fashion Week will run July 7-10, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. With an estimated 1,260 exhibitors from 20 countries in attendance, the fair is billed as a one-stop shop for all fashion, accessories and fabric merchandising needs for global buyers. Under the theme “Cruise Sensation,” buyers will get a first look at the season and access to seminars, fashion shows and networking opportunities. In addition to highlighting the latest product developments and trends for Spring/Summer, a new spotlight on emerging innovations in functional clothing will tap into the growing demand for smart, active apparel. Encouraged on by consumers’ increasing interest in outdoor activities and healthy living; exhibitors will display advances in sun protective fabric, moisture-wicking materials and thermal insulation. Men’s apparel will also feature predominately, as global menswear sales are estimated to outpace womenswear. Additionally, the show will offer attendees a chance to review private label opportunities for garments like jeans, Tshirts and accessories. Other highlights include the Fashion Gallery, home to high fashion and brand labels, the International Fashion Designers’ Showcase featuring designer collections and a variety of accessory zones. For further inspiration, daily runway shows and fashion parades are scheduled, as well as trend seminars hosted by revered international trend forecasting agencies. Buyers can take advantage of fashion development seminars presented by industry leaders, and can discuss business opportunities and sourcing needs in emerging markets at the Buyer’s Forum. Other events include Happy Hours, a networking reception and several meet-the-press events.
