sophie delaporte nudes About Nudes With her new series Nudes, Sophie Delaporte has overcome the limitations offered by fashion photography. Her photography always reveals a spirit of vivacity and intuition which translates this new energy into graphic simplicity. Simple accessories such as paper, fabric and chair, embellish the pose of the model creating a dramatic and playful elasticity of the movement. With her own colors, her way of staging and the joy of her imagery, Delaporte proves again the strength of her specific narrative vision. “Delaporte sings a body electric: current and quick, seldom static, hardly shocking, charged with energy, and crackling with unpredictable incidents. Seductive in an unlikely fashion, this series of capricious nudes cavorts across an uncommonly witty body of work... At times the nude before us covers her face with a bunched-up dress while the parts of the body that are generally concealed remain on conspicuous display. Though this might not be your idea of how to decide if a dress will attract a lover (but it certainly ought to work), it definitely looks like a good time. I’d say it all looks like a good time –for the model, for those wayward clothes, and no doubt for the photographer. Me too,” wrote Vicki Goldberg. In conjonction with the exhibition, a catalog will be released with a foreword written by Vicki Goldberg, journalist and critic, who has overseen photography’s rise in contemporary art over the past 25 years.
About Sophie Delaporte Born in Paris, Sophie Delaporte studied photography and film at the Ecole Louis Lumière in Paris. After graduating, she moved to London and started working for the English press. Her first publications appeared in i-D magazine, with whom she still collaborates. Sophie recently worked for clients such as Le Bon Marché, Hermès, Dior, John Galliano, Jean Paul Gaultier and Astier de Villatte. Sophie Delaporte currently lives and works between Paris and New York.
