THE BUSINESS PRECINCT

The construction of a number of large business developments has seen South Brisbane emerge as one of Brisbane’s most dynamic commercial inner-city precincts. It has proven to be an ideal location for head offices, educational institutions, service providers and world class medical facilities.

The inner-south market, including South Brisbane, has experienced considerable growth in total office stock when compared to the Brisbane CBD and surrounding fringe markets.

There are currently 12 educational institutions surrounding South Bank including Queensland University of Technology, South Bank Institute of Technology, Griffith University and central Queensland University. These schools cater to more than 80,000 students in total.

Southpoint is one of the largest mixed-use, transport-oriented development (TOD) projects in Queensland. Southpoint is home to Flight Centre and Virgin Australia’s global headquarters and Brisbane’s second luxury Emporium Hotel.

Significant transit infrastructure and proximity to the CBD is the key reason South Brisbane is home to Brisbane’s largest conference facility and a dozen hotels and serviced apartments.

The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) is a world-class purpose-built venue celebrated for its operation and service excellence. It hosts many of Brisbane’s major exhibitions, concerts, galas and charity events every year.

More than 12 hotels and serviced apartments occupy South Brisbane with an average occupancy of 81%.

• BCEC hosts more than 1300 events each year, with more than 800,000 patrons attending.

• BCEC offers an additional 1500 car parks to the precinct.

• The Emporium Hotel at Southpoint features 146 beautifully appointed luxury rooms.

• Mantra South bank is a 4.5 star hotel directly opposite the Grey Street/ Little Stanley Street precinct, comprising 161 rooms and a boutique function space catering up to 150 people.

• Rydges South Bank, also opposite the Grey Street/ Little Stanley Street precinct, includes 304 stylish rooms and seven function spaces with a 600 person capacity.
