Enjoy.
Kansas City hungers for good, fair, honest, delicious, urban grown food; we hunger for connection with our food, our farmers and our community; we hunger to Cultivate the Change in our food system. But how? We encourage you to get to know your farmer and know your food. Talk to the farmers when you shop at a farmers market. Visit farms and get your hands dirty. Take your kids along to see that carrots actually come from the earth. Or grow food yourself. Whether Photo of Sherri Harvel of Root Deep Urban Farm by Kevin Cozad you turn your lawn into food production or grow a single pot of herbs in your kitchen window, you gain an intimate knowledge of that food and the effort that goes into getting it to your plate. We all eat, so we all share the responsibility of creating a food system for a healthy and sustainable future. Join us to cultivate this change…one bite at a time. We hope the Urban Grown Farms & Gardens Tour and activities will both feed and deepen your hunger.
Let’s Cultivate the Change!

It wasn’t until I became a father that the quality of food became so important. Knowing where the food we’re eating came from and what care was used in raising it became essential. That philoasophy is being incorporated into Anton’s by developing relationships with farmers and trying to build on sustainability. We are striving to put quality products at the forefront. Some of Anton’s offerings are pork and poultry raised hormone free, without antibiotics and certified organic grass fed beef. All from farms that care about and practice the humane treatment of animals. I realized by dealing directly with farmers I would be able to offer something distinctive, at an affordable price. This allows for more creativity and offerings like in-house aging, cutting steaks to order and being able to offer our products at the Butcher’s counter to enjoy at home. I wanted to recreate the Butcher Shop and Steak House of long past. ~ Anton Kotar
