Dame Judi Dench joins cast of election night drama Page 2. South East Times. Issue 65
Dame Judi Dench has been cast in a ground-breaking new stage play set in a fictional polling station on UK election night. The Vote will make theatrical history when it is broadcast live on TV as polls close for real on 7 May. Its ensemble cast, which consists of about 50 actors, includes Mark Gatiss, Catherine Tate and Timothy West. The play, by James Graham, opens at London’s Donmar Warehouse two weeks ahead of election day. It hopes to shine a light on the “diverse, diligent and often hilarious individuals” who out turn out at polling stations on election night and “turn these unglamorous settings into places where history is made”. The 7 May performance of The Vote at the Donmar will be broadcast live on the More4 channel from 20:30 - 22:00 GMT. Dame Judi, who last appeared at the tiny Covent Garden venue in the late 1970s, will play a voter who arrives at the polling station with her daughter -

played by her real life daughter Finty Williams. “This is a unique opportunity for the Donmar to make a small theatre feel very big,” said artistic director Josie Rourke. “Some of the nation’s greatest actors are coming together this election night to give theatre a seat at the table of a national event. Everyone involved is approaching this experiment with a sense of adventure.” Rourke last worked with playwright James Graham on 2014’s Privacy, an interactive play about internet security that encouraged audiences to use their smart phones as part of the show. His other work includes political drama
This House for the National Theatre. “When James Graham and I collaborated on Privacy, we were attempting something no-one had tried before. This is our next step in pushing the boundaries of how theatre speaks to audiences in a brave, new and popular language about the times in which we live,” Rourke said.
Described as “an unprecedented national television event”, The Vote’s live TV broadcast is being produced by Twofour - the team behind the Channel 4 documentary series Educating Yorkshire. Tickets for the stage performances from 24 April - 7 May will be available through a ballot which opens on 30 March on the Donmar website.

Little Malties at Maltman’s Green School What better way to have a taste of life here at Maltman’s Green Nursery, than to experience it first hand? Little Malties provides an opportunity for prospective parents to play with their daughters in the stimulating environment of our Nursery. You will be welcomed by our expert staff who will run the play sessions and give you an insight into the life of a Maltman’s Green Nursery girl. Nursery provides the perfect start in your daughter’s journey to becoming a ‘purple girl’.
From day one, the Nursery builds the foundations for independence and transition. It benefits from being linked to Reception classes across a courtyard, ensuring a strong Early Years identity. The ethos of the school for each child becoming an independent learner begins in Nursery. All the teaching and learning in the Early Years at Maltman’s is underpinned by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
All the girls attend every morning until 12:00 and it is the parents’ choice as to how many full days their daughter attends. Each week the girls have two Music lessons with the Music Specialist. They also have one PE lesson and from the February half term they start their swimming lessons in our superb pool. Outdoor learning is very much a part of the EYFS and here at Maltman’s Green
School we embrace this alongside our commitment to sustainability. The Nursery girls use the courtyard which they benefit from sharing with the older, Reception girls. They also enjoy using the apparatus on the spacious Junior Playground. As an essential part of the uniform requirements throughout the school, we make good use of wellies for exploring our extensive grounds and wooded areas. In 2015 Little Malties will be meeting on Friday afternoons from 1:30-2:45pm on 1 May and 3 July 2015. If your daughter is aged between 18 months and 2 ½ years old and you would like to join us at one of our Little Malties play sessions please email: littlemalties@maltmansgreen.com. For further information please email us or call the school office on 01753 883022. We look forward to seeing you.

Reigate Hill WW2 plane crash memorial unveiled A memorial is being unveiled for a World War Two American aircraft crew who died when their plane crashed 70 years ago on Reigate Hill. Friends and family of those who died will be at a service later. It follows two years of research into the area’s wartime past by conservation organisations in Surrey. A memorial made of two wing tips, carved by sculptor Roger Day, has been placed at the
site. It includes fuselage aluminium from the crash. Mark Richards, from the National Trust, said archaeologists had carried out surveys of unidentified military structures and researchers had delved into the national archives to find out more about how the B17G aircraft crashed. He said the memorial was one of the abiding legacies of the Front Line Surrey Hills project. “Its beauty and poignancy [is] striking in what is now known as the memorial glade,” he said. Researchers discovered the crew from 384th Bomb Group were on their 13th mission together and their target for 19 March 1945 was to be the oil facilities at Bohlen, Germany. During the mission, the crew bombed secondary targets because they were hampered by cloud. On their return, cloud led to further visibility problems and the aircraft crashed into Reigate Hill in a huge explosion. The clearing at the crash site was created by the force as the aircraft crashed into the beech trees. The Front Line Surrey Hills project, which included the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the National Trust, Gatton Trust and Surrey County Council, received £54,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund for its programme of educational and research events.

Illegal immigrants smuggled out of UK and back again An undercover journalist filmed 21 illegal immigrants inside a lorry being taken on to a ferry and into France. Most said they intended to return. John Vine, former Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration, said the film exposed serious issues. The Port of Dover said exit checks were being introduced at ports from April. Illegal immigrants leave the UK to evade deportation by the authorities here, but some are being smuggled back in to the UK after being registered as asylum seekers in Italy. An asylum loophole means that, if then caught in the UK, they are likely to be returned to Italy rather than their country of origin. The illegal immigrants were filmed secretly inside the lorry by Afghan journalist Ajmal, posing as an illegal immigrant. He had been told by a UK-based people smuggler he could be smuggled out of the country almost any day of the week for £300.
Ajmal handed over the cash to the people smugglers in Walthamstow, east London, and was driven in a people carrier to Detling, Kent with seven illegal immigrants. The driver demanded another 100 euros from each person. All eight were transferred to a lorry parked in a layby. The truck, which already had 14 illegal immigrants on board from Birmingham and Manchester, entered the Port of Dover at 23:45 GMT, driving past Kent Police officers and British and French passport controls. It waited for four hours before boarding a Dunkirk ferry. The journey ended at Veurne on the Belgian border, from where some illegal immigrants were being driven on to other European destinations. Ajmal was told how to get to the nearest railway station and that the gang would smuggle him back to the UK if he wished - but the price for the return trip would be £1,200. The illegal immigrants in the lorry told Ajmal they were
Pakistani and Indian nationals, with three from Afghanistan. Some said they had entered the UK on student visas, while others came illegally and were now fleeing possible deportation. Most told Ajmal they intended to return to Britain again using criminal gangs.

Supershot continues to exceed expectations
Cogent Supershot has been in the limelight since he topped worldwide charts and now, with his first progeny hitting the ground
across the globe, the excitement has reached a new high. His impact on the breed will undoubtedly be significant, with daughters
The first sheep breeding sale of the year
The Dorset Horn and Poll Dorset Sheep breed are renowned worldwide for their unique ability to lamb naturally at any time of the year. This means that they are the ideal sheep breed for any type of farming operation, whether to tidy up grass swards after summer grazing by cattle or producing crops of lambs every eight months, they are sure to add value. The Dorset is one of the oldest recognised sheep breeds that has continued to develop and adapt to innovations in farming and market demands, producing a high quality commercial prime lamb or highly prolific and maternal females.
In addition to the breed’s strength and versatility it also sets the market tone for the sheep industry due to the famous May Fair, which is the first pure-bred ram and female sale of the year. Taking place during the first week of May at the Exeter Livestock Centre, it attracts keen interest from vendors and buyers from all corners of the United Kingdom. With a large quality selection of well grown ram lambs and shearlings, including performance recorded stock, and quality breeding females, buyers regularly depart with purchases capable of being put straight to work.
starting to appear at the top of many different leader boards, on a number of different genetic bases. In Canada, currently five of the top eleven highest heifers on GLPI in the world are sired by Supershot across three different countries and four of the top twenty-five highest GTPI females in the US are Supershot daughters. In the UK, his calves are developing exceptionally. Initial genomic tests from Germany show that Supershot will have some of the highest RZG females in the breed with many more animals being eligible for results in the April genomic run. Additionally, after each genetic index run, Supershot’s GTPI rises. In December, he climbed to 2,675 GTPI, which ranks him at number six on the available sires list and the number one bull available that is not sired by Mogul. In the UK, Supershot is one of a few bulls actually available over the 600 GPLI mark and offers 2.55 on UK Type Merit. Owain Harries, Cogent’s Genetic
Procurement Manager, said: “Breeders from around the world have been delighted with the return on their initial investments. First when they had great results when they were flushing with Supershot, then when they had the calves born which were full of vigour and character and now with the genomic test results coming back. Supershot is demonstrating his ability to consistently sire progeny of the highest level. In a time where younger progeny seem to dominate the high rankings due to their shorter generation interval, it is almost unprecedented for a bull of nearly two years old to still feature in the top ten lists. Supershot is making a huge difference in the AI world and the dairy industry in general. Already, although early into his career, he is being hailed a ‘game changer.’ He will sell for years to come and we are eagerly anticipating the addition to the PLI league table of the first Supershot females.”
New tractor and trailer weight limits come into force
Helpful for farmers NFU transport spokesperson John Collen said: “The date given for the new speed and weight limits to take effect is helpful for farmers – early March means it’s in time for busy periods such as silage and hay making and harvest. We are pleased to see that DfT recognises that the current limits are outdated and they are considering further increases, and we welcome the opportunity for continued negotiation of enhanced limits for harvest in 2016.” CLA Midlands regional director Caroline Bedell said: “Tractors are safer and faster than they were when these speed limits were imposed 27 years ago. Compact, clean and efficient mobile dryer
Dan-corn offer a simple three modal range of mobile grain dryers with capacities of 10.3, 18.5 and 28.5 t.p.h. drying wheet at 100oC hot air temperature. They are compact, simple to operate and produce minimal dust during operation with the larger two dryers including as standard a “vacuum cooling heat reclaim system which can offer up to 30% reduction in fuel used. Prior to delivery all dryers are filled with grain and fully tested at DanCorn’s premises to check all fuctions to
ensure they are thoroughly pre-tested and fully operational ready for harvest. A Dan-Corn engineer commissions all new dryers all new dryers after delivery to the farm. The dryers all LPG fired to guarantee the best possible clean burn, free from the contamination which can sometimes occur with oil fired burners and are complete with integral vaporizers wich in turn feed into fully modulating gas control train maintaining a constant temperature and minimal gas usage. Dryer functions are automatically controlled from a
demountable touch screen via sensors located throughout the dryer. Automoisture control is achieved via a sensor located within the grian flow before it leaves the dryer and is data logged with access to information from a user friendly demountable touch screen which can located up to 8m from the dryer.
Although portable, the macihines can be used in fixed locations and are very suitable for upgrading from older low profile dryers such as Allmet or Alvin Blanch where there may not be enough room to install the larger mobile recirculating batch or tower dryers due to height restrictions.
New law will help farmers blighted by flygrazing FARMERS and landowners will be given greater powers to deal with horses left illegally on their land thanks to new legislation. The Control of Horses Bill will help to deter and swiftly resolve cases of horses left illegally on private land. It has been welcomed by the CLA and the NFU whose members are repeatedly affected. CLA deputy President Ross Murray said: “We are delighted that farmers and landowners will at last be able to deal with fly-grazed horses in a timely, humane and cost-effective manner without damage to land or at risk of liability for horses left illegally on their land. In its original form, the Bill would have put our members at a disadvantage by not allowing them the same controls as local authorities so we are pleased the Government has now responded to our concerns by extending powers in the Bill to private landowners.” The CLA has worked closely with several other rural organisations and animal welfare charities for some time to
ensure the Control of Horses Bill made it through Parliament. ‘Stop the scourge - time to address unlawful fly-grazing in England’, a landmark report launched to highlight the increasing problem of fly-grazing was published last September. NFU deputy president Minette Batters added: “The new legislation will enable farmers and landowners to remove unwanted horses from their land and in a much more straightforward way while action will be less expensive
to take. Farmers can suffer significant financial losses caused by flygrazing so they need the option of taking action quickly to reduce or prevent damage. The law will also make a big difference to horse welfare, as charities have been struggling to help the thousands of horses being bred indiscriminately and kept without proper care.”
BVD uncovered in Online ‘Ask The Expert’ Sessions
Police warning to dog owners following attacks on sheep
POLICE have repeated warnings to dog owners following a spate of attacks on sheep. Derbyshire Police said it was appealing for witnesses after a dog killed one sheep and injured two others in Stanton Lees, Matlock. PC Simon Wolverson, from the Tideswell, Litton, Baslow and Beeley Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:
“We are urging dog owners to act responsibly and keep their dogs under control around farm animals; especially as lambing season is set to get underway. These types of incidents cause a lot of distress to animals.” The force said it would put posters and signage up around the area to reinforce the message over the next few weeks.
Calving safety warning following farmer death FARMERS are being encouraged to think carefully about health and safety as the main spring calving season gets underway... Quality Meat Scotland (QMS), NFU Scotland and the Scottish Beef Association urged cattle producers to consider how they could reduce the potential dangers, which regularly result in injuries and sometimes fatalities, at this time of year. It comes after a 62-year-old woman died earlier this month as she helped a cow to calve in Bixter on Shetland. Charlie Adam, chairman of NFU Scotland’s livestock committee, who is currently calving about 100 suckler cows, said: “Each farmer knows his own animals and set-up in terms of handling facilities and equipment but it is important they take time to identify the risks now before the tiredness of calving kicks in and judgement can be impaired. “It is always worth just taking a moment to think through the possible scenarios before jumping in to deal with even what is a simple intervention and to consider your own safety as well as the wellbeing of the cow and calf.”
Mr Adam said in many cases the best advice was to make sure there was someone around to help. However, he added this was not always possible. “It is also worth bearing in mind that in some cases cows may be unsettled by an unfamiliar person getting involved,” said Mr Adam. Health and Safety Executive (HSE) principal Inspector Niall Miller said one of the greatest risks farmers faced was when they were working alone with calving cows and young calves in an open field. “If farmers have no choice but to work alone with recently-calved cows they should ensure that they take steps to make that a safer experience,” said Mr Miller. “If possible they should stay close enough to a suitable vehicle that can provide protection if a situation emerges and they should ensure they have their mobile phone with them so they can summon help if needed.” Mr Miller said the danger was frequently not just from the recently-calved cow but from the other animals in the herd becoming agitated. He also pointed out that mid-way through the calving period when farmers and farm staff were getting tired was a high-risk time for mistakes to be made.
Kent Police said it was investigating after a dog killed six pregnant ewes in what the farmer believes was a deliberate attack. Hilary Macnamara said she thought the dog had been released into the enclosed sheep pen to ‘train them’ for future attacks. Anyone with any information about either attack is asked to contact police via 101.
Dairy and beef farmers will have the opportunity to put their key questions about Bovine Viral Diarrhoea (BVD) to disease expert Dr Richard Booth MRCVS during two interactive webinars in April. These will cover the following key topics: * 15th April - How do you know if BVD is affecting your herd? * 22nd April - How can you achieve a BVD free herd? Dr Booth, a cattle vet who is currently lecturing in infectious cattle diseases at the Royal Veterinary College London, has been involved since 2006 with an extensive research project on what is one of the most widespread and potentially devastating infectious diseases for UK cattle herds. Through his work, he has become one of the leading authorities on all aspects of BVD, including its transmission, the impact on farms, and methods of control and eradication. The 30 minute interactive online sessions take place from 7pm and are free to any dairy or beef farmers that register at www.msd-animal-health-cpd.co.uk. All farmers that register will also receive a free recording of their webinar. The webinar programme is being provided by MSD Animal Health, manufacturer of BOVILIS(r) BVD, which has been proven for over 15 years in the field and is the UK’s most widely recommended BVD vaccine1.

Unique precast underground cave proves the perfect environment for award-winning cheese Working with MJ Fry Engineering of Martinstown in Dorset, Milbury Systems (an FP McCann company) has created an underground ‘cave’ near Dorchester to store and mature cheese. Designed and manufactured at Milbury’s Gloucester plant, 67 prestressed Vertical Cantilever (VC) panels and 38 solid prestressed roof panels made up the bulk of the construction, together with the necessary ancillaries and panel foundation rebar needed to complete the project. The ‘cave’ was installed after MJ Fry Engineering had completed substantial groundworks, excavating a hole in the side of a hill that was deep enough to accommodate a 3 metre effective internal wall height, with an additional 3 to 4 metres of soil / backfill on the external top. This was integral to the design, to allow for an additional surcharge load from a light duty tractor which mows the grass on the top of the soil fill. The client, Ford Farm, an award winning cheese manufacturer, is now using the cave to store and mature cheese. Some of the joints in the prestressed panels have been left unsealed to allow for nominal ingress of water into the cave; this assists in the maturing process of the cheese stored within it. A cheese matured in the cave has already won its Dorset producers a top industry award. A return to traditional cheese making methods saw Ford Farm’s Traditional Farmhouse Cheddar crowned Supreme Champion at the International Cheese Awards. The prestressed, man-made cave – along with the famous Wookey Hole natural caves – provide a
fantastic environment for the maturing of Ford Farm cheese due to its constant humidity and all year round temperature which results in the cheese taking on a deliciously distinctive flavour.
Biomass Heating does not have to be expensive or complicated AFS Biomass offers end-to-end solution for renewable or green energy systems to businesses, institutions and homes. From initial design and planning, right through to installation and on going maintenance, our service is truly holistic. We design, supply, install and maintain complete biomass boiler systems for commercial, domestic and district heating applications (where several buildings are heated by a single boiler). We pride ourselves on good advice, on our service, and the efficient, no nonsense installation of the right system for the job. We can provide everything you need from retro-fit systems to bespoke energy centres, from fuel stores to fuel supply. Our biomass boilers will integrate with any existing heating systems, including under floor heating, domestic hot water and with other renewables such as solar.
Why Biomass? In a heating context, "Biomass" is the name given to organic material that can be used as fuel. The new generation of "multi-fuel" biomass boilers supplied by AFS are up to 96% efficient and can burn wood logs, wood pellets, wood chips, cereals and miscanthus. There are many good reasons for using Biomass Fuel
Biomass is sustainable, renewable, virtually carbon neutral and offers CO2 savings of up to 96%, compared to heating oil. (Source; Biomass Energy Centre) Biomass is cheaper than fossil fuel. Wood pellets are 25-30% cheaper than
heating oil and wood chip is 40-50% cheaper. (Source; Biomass Energy Centre) Buying biomass fuel locally reduces the environmental impact of transport, helps your local economy, provides local business opportunities and rural jobs. Excellent return on investment, especially if replacing electricity, heating oil or LPG. "Thinning" - the selective harvesting
of a forest's annual growth - not only provides biomass fuel, but is necessary to improve the growth rate of trees and to support biodiversity. Woodland, forestry and agriculture provide the population with leisure and recreation opportunities. Less woody biomass going to landfill means less methane and reduced CO2 emissions. Biomass ash is full of nutrients, so makes great compost for your garden.
Wipe Out for Weeds
Consider the alternative to spraying weeds and you could be looking at a fast and far more cost-effective method of wiping them out. The concept of weedwiping was developed in New Zealand in the 1970’s and it offers a controlled method of targeting weeds. A weedkiller chemical is coated onto a carpet roller which is wiped across the weeds, applying chemical to the underside of the leaf. It’s an ideal method for paddock, pasture and turfcare, using much less chemical than spraying and, as it targets the vulnerable undersidepart of the weed leaf, it hits it where it hurts without killing grass or clover. The Wessex Weedwiper attaches to a standard ball hitch on an ATV, UTV or 4 x 4 and comprises a unique roller carpet mounted on a sturdy mainframe. There’s a large wheel at each end, one of which drives the roller rotation and
the roller runs in the opposite direction to the travel of the Rotowiper to allow thorough coating of the underside of the leaf. The machine is height adjustable to ensure all weed types and growth stages are catered for. A reliable pump transfers chemical from the tank to the carpet, coating it evenly and thoroughly to ensure the weed receives the right amount of lethal chemical. To see the flow of chemical being applied to the carpet roller Wessex recommend adding a small amount of foam, such as Deva foam, to the chemical tank, allowing the operator a visual aid to regulate the amount of chemical being applied. More chemical is added by a simple switch controlled by the operator from the seat of the towing vehicle. The Wessex Rotowiper is available in a 2.4m width and can be used on any vehicle with a tow hitch. Wessex International 01264 345870 www.wessexintl.com
SJ Stanberry & Sons Ltd – Two sides of a coin
SJ Stanberry & Sons Ltd was established in 1983, founded by Stephen Stanberry and now working closely with his three sons to further establish and build up business. Our head office is based in Cambridgeshire, and we offer two nationwide services to the public sector, industrial, agricultural and commercial markets.
Many years ago SJ Stanberry began with the delivery and installation of modular and portable buildings to schools and colleges across the UK, and still does today. Over time we began to include installation of foundations and service connections for the buildings, and soon clients began to request hard landscaping i.e. drives, patios, car parks etc. to give
their project a complete finish. This enabled us to provide a full package to our clients, from setting up on site, forming foundations and installing the services, to supply and delivery of the portable or modular building, undertaking any hard landscaping and testing all services and signing the project off. We are proud to say that SJ Stanberry & Sons Ltd have built a good reputation and working relationship with many schools, colleges and intend to carry this forward for the foreseeable future. On the other side of the coin is our concrete flooring service and we have gained a good strong reputation for industrial and agricultural concrete services and pride ourselves on providing another full turnkey service by utilising professional working methods and continuous improvement. On projects for our smaller clients, we work closely with them to take into account the use of the finished floor and are able to discuss the best
materials and methods to achieve the desired results, whether this is for grain silos, animal housing, grain stores or general storage buildings. We have also become involved with Anaerobic digestion bases, knowing that many of our clients are interested in these environmental energy saving methods, and we are happy to work with them on this forward thinking aspect of producing renewable power. We offer a professional service when dealing with all our clients (public and private sectors) and are approachable and versatile allowing us to meet all our clients’ requirements. Essex street lights to remain switched off overnight
Lights are to remain switched off overnight across Essex despite councils wanting them back on. The Essex County Council scheme to turn off 70% of street lights between midnight and 05:00, to save £1m a year, began last March. Harlow councillors have now voted to pay £121,000 to have the lights back on. Colchester and Tendring are considering similar moves. Conservative-run Essex County Council has so far rejected their approaches. The councils are concerned over residents’ safety in the darkened streets and increases in crime. Rodney Bass, responsible for street lighting in Essex, said the scheme would continue and “there is no evidence of an increase in crime or accidents attributed to the Part Night Lighting” (the official name of the policy). “Near rail stations and where people walk at
night we over-ride the system and keep the lights on.” Jon Clempner, leader of Labour-run Harlow Council, said: “We plan to pay for the restoration of lights with a small council tax increase. We will continue to put our community’s needs first and get our town’s street lights back on.” Harlow MP Robert Halfon, who had supported the campaign, said because Essex County Council was not willing to agree to the principle of switching the lights back on, it was better to defer further consideration for a year. Colchester Borough Council’s cabinet has allocated up to £185,000 from the 2014/15 budget to pay for the lights to be switched back on. This will go to the full council at a date to be fixed. Tendring District Council is to debate the issue on 24 March.

Harry Kane: Roy Hodgson fears striker will miss the Under-21 Euros England manager Roy Hodgson fears Tottenham’s commercial interests could stop Harry Kane featuring at this year’s European Under-21 Championship. The 26-goal striker may have to go to Australia with his club, jeopardising his England commitments this summer. “Personally speaking, playing for England at Under-21 level at a tournament is more important than a friendly in Australia,” Hodgson said. “This is a marketing game as far as I can understand.” Kane has become one of Tottenham’s big stars and was named in Hodgson’s England squad for games against Lithuania and Italy. That is why Spurs are keen for the 21-year-old to make the 21,000-mile, 42-hour post-season

journey to play Sydney FC in a friendly on 30 May. Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says Kane would then need to rest, which could mean he misses the U21 tournament, which starts in the Czech Republic on 17 June. Hodgson plans to speak to Pochettino but added: “Don’t forget, these decisions are sometimes commercial and taken out of a coach’s hands.” Pochettino says he has a good relationship with Hodgson and only has Kane’s interests at heart. “Always we try to find what is best for the player,” the Argentine said. Gareth Southgate says Kane is willing to play for the Under-21s. “He wants to go and have a crack at being European champions, so I don’t foresee that that will change,” said the U21 boss.
Harry Kane: Tottenham striker earns first senior England call-up
Issue 65. South East Times. Page 43
Tottenham striker Harry Kane has earned a first senior England call-up for the games against Lithuania and Italy at the end of the month. The 21-year-old, who has scored 26 goals in 42 games this season, is part of a 24-man squad named by Roy Hodgson. "I think the whole country is excited about Harry," said the England manager. "It would have been a surprise if he wasn't selected." Kane said: "It's something I'd always dreamed of as a kid." The forward's Tottenham team-mate, defender Kyle Walker, also returns to the national squad for the first time since November 2013. England meet Lithuania at Wembley on 27 March in their latest Group E Euro 2016 qualifier before a friendly in Turin against Italy on 31 March. Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph is back after missing November's games against Slovenia and Scotland with injury. Only two goalkeepers are named after West Brom's Ben Foster was ruled out for a month with a knee injury. "We regard Jack Butland as the third keeper," Hodgson added. "But our under-21s have a game on Friday, so we would prefer him to stay and play in that game. "He will be our third goalkeeper and will come with us if anything happens to the other two keepers in training or during the first game." Under-21 manager Gareth Southgate will have to contend without his top scorer Kane, who has netted eight times in 10 appearances, for the matches against Czech Republic and Germany. Who's in? Alongside Tottenham's Walker and Villa's Delph, Roy Hodgson has brought four other faces back into the fold. They are: Kane and Walker's Tottenham team-mate, midfielder Andros
Townsend, Manchester United defender Phil Jones, midfield club-mate Michael Carrick and Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, who is set for a first England appearance since suffering a thigh injury on national duty in September. Who's out? Arsenal pair Calum Chambers and Jack Wilshere miss out from the squad selected in November, as does clubmate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is injured. West Ham midfielder Stewart Downing, West Brom striker Saido Berahino and Liverpool forward Rickie Lambert are the other absentees from Hodgson's last squad. Chambers and Berahino are in the under-21 squad to face Czech Republic and Germany. Hodgson on his future Asked about life after 2016, when his current contract as national coach expires, Roy Hodgson said: "What I really want to do is to make certain is that I do the job I'm currently contracted to do to the best of my ability and hope there are no slip-ups. "I hope when we go to France - and I believe we will qualify - we will give a good account of ourselves. I don't need to look beyond that." Hodgson on English disappointment in Europe Speaking after the elimination of English clubs from the Champions League, he said: "The Premier League is a great league and we have great players. That doesn't give you the right to win matches against teams from other countries. "No doubt the Premier League and the top clubs won't want to lose the fourth Champions League place. But it is a fact of life that if you want four places then you have to get the points to keep that status. That this time we have teams going out is just one of those things."

Premier League: Chelsea say low penalty count is ‘abnormal’ Chelsea say the number of penalties they have been awarded in the Premier League this season seems “abnormally low” compared to other years. An article on the club’s website points out Jose Mourinho’s side have been awarded two so far, while Arsenal and Manchester City have had seven each. Chelsea’s two were in home wins against Arsenal in October and QPR in November. Mourinho was fined in January for claims of a campaign to influence refereeing decisions against Chelsea. The article, titled ‘Penalty Puzzle’, gives the number of penalties Chelsea have received in the Premier League in the last six seasons. Last season they were awarded seven. “So this season’s tally of two unquestionably bucks the recent trend, yet our position as clear league leaders and second-highest scorers suggests we can’t be labelled anything other than an attacking side, spending plenty of time in the opposition box,” the article says.
Chelsea paying the penalty? 2014/15 2 1st (currently) 2013/14 7 3rd 2012/13 11 3rd 2011/12 5 6th 2010/11 8 2nd 2009/10 12 1st “Of course, it could be that when teams have played the league leaders they have been particularly careful inside their own area. We all have plenty of recollections suggesting this is not the case, however.” The article also highlights incidents during the season where it says Chelsea should have been awarded penalties. These include: A challenge on Branislav
Ivanovic in last Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Southampton. A challenge on Cesc Fabregas, who was booked, in the return game at St Mary’s, which also ended 1-1. A challenge on Diego Costa at Burnley and a handball appeal against the Clarets
in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge last month. A claim for handball at Tottenham in a 5-3 defeat in January. Suggested fouls on Ivanovic and John Terry in a 1-1 draw at Manchester United last October.
