HISTORY Southern City was officially founded in 2015 and will put on its first film festival in the fall of 2016 in Aiken, SC. The Founder, Justin Wheelon, has been working on the buisness behind the scenes for the last few years with the core team. The Southeast is so rich with talent from all mediums that we wanted a place to showcase and celebrate that talent. We firmly believe in our motto “It all starts with an idea� because we think all great things originally stem from an idea. We want to see and reward your ideas in the 2016 Southern City Film Festival.

MISSION The Southern City Institute is dedicated to the education and promotion of the arts by the celebration of film through the Southern City Film Festival. SCFF seeks to create venues in the community to encourage education, artistic expression, and acknowledge emerging filmmakers in our community and from around the world.

MEET THE FOUNDER Justin Wheelon is a professional actor, director, writer, and producer. As well as being a two time Emmy® Award-Winner he has also won numerous national and international awards, including 8 Telly’s and 6 Addy's. He’s appeared in over 40 movies and television shows to date. In Justin’s first appearance on stage at ACP he won ‘Outstanding Supporting Actor’ for his role in The Spitfire Grill (Eli). Justin was listed by IMDb as ‘One of the top Actors in the Southeast’. As an Aiken native and USCA alumni his work has been featured in national television commercials for major clients, including directing two Super Bowl commercials. He is the Founder and President of SOUTHERN CITY®.
