NEW OPTOMETRIC SURGICAL CENTER In 2023, SCO made great strides in advancing the clinical education of our students. The newly opened Optometric Surgical Center provided fourth-year interns hands-on experience with advanced procedures.
NEW PATIENT TRACKER SOFTWARE LAUNCHED TO PROVIDE INTERN/ PATIENT METRICS The Eye Center launched a new room status and patient tracker software. The software greatly improves the visibility of where patients are in the exam process and provides valuable metrics useful in determining patient care encounters by interns.
NEW CATARACT CLINIC A Cataract Clinic with fourth-year interns began involving students in the pre-operative planning of post-operative outcomes as well as the routine post-operative care process for cataract patients.

No other optometry school was represented by so many different states as SCO was in 2023. In their own words, these students speak to the impact that SCO is making on their professional plans.

Industry partners also make a considerable impact by working with students to inform them about emerging trends, ophthalmic products, and best practices. SCO is appreciative of all industry partners, including Alcon, seen here hosting a Water Surface Technology Workshop on campus.
Hear our students talk about their experience at the Alcon event in this short video.
