Information Costa Brava/Maresma

Holiday Itinerary You can choose from ten day (seven night) or seventeen day (fourteen night) holidays. The itineraries are as follows: Day 1 • Friday morning: Collection from your local departure point. Once all passengers have been collected we head to the Port of Dover where we board an early afternoon P&O ferry. The channel crossing to Calais takes approximateIy 90 minutes. There are many facilities for you to enjoy throughout the crossing; self-service restaurant, lounge. bar and duty-free shops. Upon arrival in Calais we join the European Autoroute system. travelling through France towards Lyon and Perpignan en route for the Costa Brava. Comfort stops are made every 2-3 hours and complimentary hot and cold soft drinks are served throughout the journey by a host or hostess. DVD entertainment will also be played during the trip.

Coaches We use a fleet of modern, luxury single-decker coaches. Each coach has a wide range of facilities on board; DVD entertainment system, air-conditioning, reclining seats, toilet and drinks machine. We operate a total non-smoking policy on board our coaches.

Seating Arrangements

Day 9/10 or 16/17 • Saturday morning: Our coach will collect you from your hotel* early in the afternoon for the return journey to England. Please refer to the board or file in your hotel for details of pick-up times. We arrive in Calais early Sunday morning and board an early morning ferry to Dover. You will then be returned to your local drop off point.

Departure Points

*Rosas/Tossa de Mar passengers: Please note that for those passengers staying at Rosas, you will leave the coach at Emporda Services where you will board your transfer transport. Our representative does not visit Rosas but is contactable by telephone should you have any queries. Tossa de Mar passengers will leave the coach in Lloret where they will board their transfer transport (representative visits are made to Tossa de Mar hotels). Similar arrangements are applicable for the return journey.

PASSPORTS

Accommodation within Europe varies, within this brochure we have given our (Southern Holidays) opinion relating to each hotel.

All passengers must have valid passports and visas if required.

The accommodation and meals as stated in our descriptions are:

Day 2 • Saturday morning: After travelling through the night we cross the French/ Spanish border at La Jonquera early in the morning and continue for another 2 hours (approx) before we arrive in the Costa Brava. Our representative will be waiting to greet you upon arrival*. Please note that coach access to the front of the hotels is usually, but not always, possible so a short walk is occasionally necessary.

Our Representative: During your stay our representative will visit your hotel. There will be a notice board or Southern Holidays client information file at your hotel reception. Details of the representative's visits can be found on the board or in the file. Please also speak to our representative about the full range of excursions available during your stay.

YOUR HOTEL ACCOMMODATION

Seating on the coach can be requested subject to availability. Where seats are not requested they are allocated from the front first. To avoid any disappointment we recommend that you book early if you have a specific request. In some circumstances we also allow passengers to purchase an additional seat should they require extra room. Please phone for details. We offer a wide range of departure points across East Anglia, Kent and the East Midlands. Please refer to Back Page for further details. Pick up times are finalised 10 to 14 working days prior to departure dates and are stated on tickets.

Hotel Rooms Please note that unless otherwise requested, triple and quadruple rooms are twin bedded rooms with extra beds added. Larger "family rooms" are available in selected hotels - prices and availability for these rooms can be requested at the time of booking.

Accommodation or Transport only We can arrange accommodation only should you wish to make alternative arrangements to travel to Spain. We also offer transport only. Please see page 2 for further details.

Beginning/End of Season Facilities Some hotel facilities and excursion programmes may be slightly limited at the beginning (April/ early May) and end (late September/October) of season. However, guests are free to use the entertainment facilities at other hotels in their resort, as is the case throughout the season.

Southern Holidays opening hours are:

January to December Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00 Saturday 09:00 to 12:00 Please call our reservations department for bookings and enquiries. Once you have reserved your holiday we shall reserve your request for seven days pending receipt of your deposit. We shall return your holiday confirmation and receipt within 10 working days. Full balance will be due 4 weeks prior to your departure date for Spanish holidays, for Christmas holidays 8 weeks prior to departure. Your deposit is £25 per person. Your final balance date will be shown on your invoice, no further reminder will be given by Southern Holidays. Your travel and coach tickets will be sent approx. 10 working days prior to travel.

SPECIAL REQUESTS Any special requests must be made at the time of booking but these cannot be guaranteed. If added at a later date a £10.00 admin. charge will be applied.

NO SMOKING Southern Holidays operate a total NON SMOKING policy on board all coaches.

YOUR LUGGAGE Only ONE medium size suitcase per person will be permitted in the luggage compartment of the coach. The size must NOT exceed 30” x 18” x 10” (inches) and approximately 451bs per person. We regret we are unable to carry freezer boxes on our coaches.

Full Board - Breakfast, lunch and evening meal. Half Board - Breakfast and evening meal. Fully Inclusive - Breakfast, lunch, evening meal and selected drinks. Rooms - Single bedded, twin bedded, triple and quadruple are twin bedded rooms with extra beds added.

YOUR COACH All Southern Holidays coaches offer reclining seats, air conditioning, washroom and toilet, video/DVD and complimentary hot drinks served by our hostess or host. Please note that where special requests are made for coach seats the position of the toilet or emergency exits may vary according to the coach used.

HOLIDAY PAYMENTS Cheques may be sent through the post made payable to Southern Holidays Ltd, along with a completed booking form. Cash UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should be sent through the post, it is only accepted in our office. We also accept credit/debit card payments.

NOT INCLUDED IN YOUR HOLIDAY All meals and drinks on your outward and return journeys, (other than complimentary tea and coffee provided on board your coach). All optional excursions at your resort.

YOUR INSURANCE Holiday insurance is required by all persons travelling, but you do not have to buy your insurance from Southern Holidays. However, you will be required to prove to us at the time of booking that you do have your own insurance. We recommend that all passengers obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This will enable you to obtain emergency treatment within the E.C. hospitals. You can get an application form for an EHIC card from your local main post office.

INFANTS AND YOUNG CHILDREN All infants under the age of 1 year travel free of charge, but any cots or food provided at your hotel must be paid direct to your hotel. We require to be informed of such circumstances at the time of booking. Children up to 14 years are subject to the price panels relating to your choice of hotel. Reductions for children are available only when sharing a room with 2 full paying adults. At some of the hotels a limited number of free child places are available.

Costa Brava is the name given to the northern-most stretch of the Catalan coast, with small secluded coves and beaches where pine groves run down to the water’s edge. Scattered around are long, sandy beaches, like those around the Gulf of Rosas. Rosas, one of the foremost fishing ports on the northern Catalan coast has a fine marina. The old town dates back to the 16th century. It was built on the orders of Charles V so as to make Rosas a stronghold against the threat of a Turkish invasion. Today, Rosas offers a wide choice of local shops and entertainment for all ages, together with sandy beaches, making it an ideal holiday destination.

The following Booking Conditions apply to clients travelling on inclusive package holidays, tours and excursions operated by Southern Holidays limited. Your holiday will only be accepted by our company upon the express condition that all clients accept the following terms. A.YOUR DEPOSIT Your completed booking form, including all passengers’ names, must be signed and accompanied by a deposit of £25 per person, this is your only commitment until 4 weeks before your departure. The exceptions to this being; last minute deals which are payable in full upon booking and early booking offers where full payment is required on specified dates. B. YOU PAY THE BALANCE All balances must be paid at least 4 weeks before departure. The date for payment will be confirmed on your invoice. Payment must be made by this date to avoid cancellation. If you have any difficulties you must notify us immediately to safeguard your reservation. No further invoice will be sent. C. CHANGES BY YOU If after your booking has been accepted, you wish to make any alterations we shall do our best to satisfy your requirements. However, an alteration fee of £10 per person will be charged unless this is to increase the booking. A change of holiday or departure date within 4 weeks of departure will incur a cancellation charge as set out in section D, unless the new holiday departs on or before the original departure date. Expenditure is incurred from the time we receive your booking form. The deposit you pay is a sign of your willingness to use the travel accommodation that we have reserved on your behalf. If you wish to cancel you must do so in writing. The charges you incur will depend on the date we receive your cancellation. It is in your own interest to give as much notice as possible as the following scale of charges will apply. Insurance premiums are not refundable - however your insurance policy covers cancellation for various reasons. You may be able to claim for any cancellation charges incurred. E. PASSPORTS AND VISAS All passengers must be in possession of valid passport/ VISAS. The latter are not required by holders of EU or British Passports. Holders of other passports must be in possession of a valid visa before departure. We cannot be held responsible for any delay or expenses incurred as a result of passengers’ travel documents not being in order. F. HOTELS AND RESORTS Whilst we make every effort to provide quality accommodation, we must point out that in most hotels, single rooms may seem inferior to other rooms and sometimes the private facilities are not en~suite. When booking a triple or family room, please bear in mind that this may be a twin room with extra beds added. In early or late season or on certain continental Bank Holidays not all of the facilities in the hotels and resorts maybe available. Swimming pools may not be in use, the resorts may be quieter and fewer shops and facilities open. Bus and ferry services may not be as frequent as in the high season. G. WE RESERVE YOUR HOLIDAY On receipt of your booking form and deposit we will allocate your chosen hotel to you. We will then send you a confirmation of the details. This also acts as an acceptance of the booking conditions in accordance with the terms of this agreement. H. SPECIAL REQUESTS Requests for adjoining rooms, high/low floors etc are subject to availability in the resort and whilst we will obviously do everything in our power to ensure clients receive their requests, please remember as we do not have direct control over actual accommodation allocations we cannot guarantee these requests. Alleged verbal confirmation of these requests at the “Time of Booking” etc. will be classified null and void without a confirmation guarantee in writing and signed by the company. All bookings /reservations are accepted on this understanding. I. COACHES PROVIDED Whilst every effort is made to provide a coach with on board facilities we

are obviously at the mercy of manufacturers, delivery dates, breakdown and acts of god, we must, therefore, reserve the right to provide you with a coach that does not have facilities for the journey. We trust that you understand the necessity for this clause and trust in all sincerity that we never have to implement it. No compensation will be given for lack of facilities, or for coach facilities which may be out of order. Please accept that coaches do occasionally breakdown and require replacing as do certain on board facilities, and remember if you do travel for business or pleasure, by land, sea or air, delays can occur for any reason whatsoever and should be anticipated. J. COACH SEATS, SMOKING AND ALCOHOL During your journey, frequent comfort stops will he made. Last minute bookings are subject to availability. Your allocated seat numbers will be confirmed to you on your final travel documents. However, if circumstances arise e.g. last minute substitution of a coach with a different seating configuration we therefore reserve the right to amend your seat number. This will obviously be kept to an absolute minimum. No alcohol is to be brought on board the coaches. K. SPECIAL CARE FOR DISABLED PASSENGERS The holidays in this brochure have been carefully planned with all passenger groups’ needs in mind but inevitably some of the holidays include lengthy periods of travel and some walking on excursions. Additionally many of the hotels will have steps to contend with. It is important that such passengers enter the word “disabled” in block capitals in the “Special Requirements” section of the booking form, together with a brief description of their disability. L. IF WE CANCEL YOUR HOLIDAY It is necessary for there to be a minimum number of passengers in order to operate. Therefore, we may have to cancel your holiday and if this should occur we will return to you all the money you have paid to us, or offer you a suitable alternative. However unless you have failed to pay your holiday in full by the agreed date we guarantee not to cancel your holiday without giving notice as shown. Holidays involving 3 or more nights with overnight accommodation - 14 days notice. Holidays involving 1 or 2 nights with overnight accommodation 7 days notice. M. IF WE CHANGE YOUR HOLIDAY It is unlikely that we will have to make any changes to your holiday, but we do plan the arrangements many months in advance, sometimes we may need to make changes, most of these are very minor and we will let you know about them wherever possible prior to departure. Some Spanish hotels occasionally close earlier than the published date. Should this occur you will be transferred to alternative, equivalent accommodation. N. OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO YOU 1) Southern Holidays Limited accept responsibility for ensuring that all of the component parts of your holiday are as stated in this brochure at the time of publication and supplied to you at the star rating as defined by the Spanish Tourist Authority. If any part is not provided as per the brochure description, Southern Holidays will pay you appropriate compensation like that stated in paragraph M, unless it is due to circumstances beyond our control. This would include, but is not limited to force majeure, war or threat of war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activities, industrial dispute, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events outside of our control. 2) It is a condition of the acceptance of liability under these Booking Conditions that you notify us of any claim you and/or member(s) of your party has in writing within 14 days of return from that holiday. If you have a complaint or claim - any person(s) to whom a payment is made (and their parent or guardian if that person is under 18 years of age) must assign to ourselves or our insurers any rights they may have to pursue any third party in connection with the complaint or claim. You must also provide ourselves and our insurers with all assistance we may reasonably require. 3) We trade in accordance with Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992. 4) In all cases, our liabilities in respect of sea and road carriers are limited within the applicable International Conventions (e.g. Athens Convention for travel by sea). 5) Please remember that some hotel amenities (e.g. hotel lifts, swimming pools etc) require services and cleaning and may not therefore be available at all times. Some services may be affected by weather conditions and their availability is entirely at the discretion of the provider of the services. Entertainment (particularly live

entertainment) provided by the hotel is frequently subject to demand and its nature and/or frequency may be varied if there is lack of demand or insufficient numbers staying in the hotel. Some excursion itineraries include the use of ferries and other forms of transport which can be affected by inclement weather and may have to be cancelled or changed as a result Whenever possible, a suitable alternative excursion will be offered. The published running times of services are estimates only and we will not be liable for any loss (however caused) arising from delay or failure to operate in accordance with published figures. O. P. COMPLAINTS Should you have any reason for dissatisfaction during your holiday, the following procedure must be adopted. Apartments/Hotels Comments must be made to our representative at the time to enable the hotelier/agent to resolve the problem during your stay. Travel/Excursions Comments should be made to our host/hostess, driver or representative who will endeavour to be of assistance. If you should have reason to be dissatisfied at the end of your holiday, you should forward comments by recorded delivery to the Managing Director, Southern Holidays Limited, within 14 days, who will not enter into correspondence outside this period, or if the above procedure has not been followed. Q. SUPPLEMENTS Southern Holidays Limited guarantees that the price of your holiday will not be subject to any surcharge except for those resulting from governmental action, including VAT. Even in this case, Southern Holidays Limited will absorb an amount equivalent to 2% which excludes any insurance premium. This clause only applies through devaluation of the pound or increase in VAT or fuel oils. (The pound at time of publication is set at 1.07 euros = £1). Southern Holidays guarantee not to increase any price 30 days prior to departure date of your holiday. Please ask for further information. R. FINANCIAL SECURITY Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992 require us to provide security for the monies that you pay for the package holidays booked from this brochure and for your re-patriation in the event of our insolvency. We provide this security by means of a trust account. S. SPECIAL DIETS If you require a special diet you must inform us at the time of booking with a copy of the diet.
