Music in the Park wraps up another successful year BENSENVILLE — Residents of Bensenville enjoyed another summer full of great music and entertainment during the Village of Bensenville’s Annual Music in the Park concert series. Music in the Park takes place every Wednesday June through the end of August each summer in Downtown Bensenville. It serves as a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and listen to great music, shop at a newly created French Market, check out hundreds of classic cars and enjoy many free activities like face paintings, horse drawn carriage rides, bouncy houses and much more. It also serves as an economic development tool helping support businesses in Downtown Bensenville and local restaurants who sell fresh prepared food. This year residents and downtown businesses got to enjoy an additional Music in the Park on September 2nd. The Village Board asked staff if they could pull off one more week to keep the summer fun going strong. Though the budget was deplet-

ed, the Recreation team was able to think outside the box and bring one more week of summer fun on a shoe-string budget. Opening band Old School donated their time and talents to make the extended series a great success. “We asked our highly qualified and professional staff to pull off a last minute end of summer finale, and as expected they knocked it out of the park,” said Village President Frank Soto. “Not only did residents get to enjoy another week of fun it created an opportunity to fundraise. The local Girl Scout Troup sold 50/50 raffle tickets raising almost $1,000 to be split between the winner, their Troup, and the Bensenville food pantry.” Each week during the Music in the Park concert series a different civic group sells the 50/50 raffle tickets of which proceeds benefit their group and the Bensenville Food Pantry. Over $1,700 was raised for the Bensenville Food Pantry this year as a result of Music in the Park.

LOMBARD — Despite the rainy weather and their big Homecoming game being postponed, the show went on anyway in the gym as Montini Catholic High School in Lombard crowned their Homecoming Queen on September 18. Escorted by their fathers, the five members of the court were introduced and took their spots in the middle of the gym for the big announcement. Queen Sarah Sniegowski from 2013 did the crowning of the queen. Senior Emma Makowski was the recipient of the crown for 2015. She is the daughter of Julie Showalter and Matt Makowski. She runs track and cross country and is a Kairos leader and Student Ambassador. She is also a member of French and Baking Clubs, Stu-

dent Government, Montini Maniacs, and Ping Pong club. Emma admits she was ecstatic when she found out she was on Homecoming court this year. “It is humbling to know that my peers feel that I represent the spirit of Montini!” she said. When asked how her parents felt about her nomination, she said, “My dad pumped his fist and said, ‘Merica!’” Five Montini seniors are elected each fall as members of Montini Catholic’s Homecoming Court with the queen being crowned at the Homecoming game. Other court members were: Lindsey McDonnell, Gianna Salzbrun, Amy Bukovsky and Margaret Sullivan.

Kline Creek Farm’s annual Corn Harvest returns Oct. 17-18 Free family event will showcase fall on the farmstead

WEST CHICAGO — Join a corn harvest on an 1890s living-history farm at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s “Corn Harvest” from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 17 and 18 at Kline Creek Farm, 1N600 County Farm Road in West Chicago. After a quick trip to “corn college,” visitors can hit the fields and pick some of the

corn that will feed the farm’s cows and sheep in the winter. They can help “shuck” — peel the husks from the ears — and “shock” — bundle full stalks to dry — and store the harvest in the corn crib when the horsedrawn wagon in the field is full. At the farmhouse, visitors can make corn-husk figures and tour the 19th-century home. They can also visit the barn, chicken coop, sheep fold and other buildings on this 200-acre farmstead. Volunteer beekeepers will be on hand to answer questions in the honey house, and on Saturday from

1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., the blacksmith will demonstrate the tools and techniques of the trade in the wagon shed. The Timber Ridge Visitor Center will be open both days so visitors can view exhibits and shop for gifts, such as toys, games, books and clothing. “Corn Harvest” allows thousands of visitors to experience harvesting a corn crop by hand with historic horse-drawn equipment,” said Dennis Buck, heritage interpreter at Kline

Creek Farm. “These experiences would have been commonplace 125 years ago but have been nostalgic memories since the 1950s.” Registration is not required for this free program, and activities are ongoing. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes for walking in the fields and may want to bring work gloves for handling the corn and stalks. For more information on “Corn Harvest” and other 1890s activities, call the farm

at 630-876-5900. “Experience life on an 1890s farm and help gather food for our farm animals to get through the winter at this popular event that’s fun for the whole family,” said Forest Preserve District Commissioner Al Murphy, District 6. “Corn Harvest” is a great way to introduce younger generations to harvest time on a farm,” said Forest Preserve District of DuPage County President Joe Cantore.

Five tips to get kids moving and healthy NAPERVILLE — Research continues to show how important physical activity is for the best health at any age. For kids, this message is especially critical given the alarming rate of childhood obesity. According to the Centers for Disease Control, nearly 13 million children and adolescents in the U.S. are considered obese. Regular exercise can help kids maintain a healthy weight and avoid problems like diabetes and hypertension. It also promotes stronger muscles and bones, a better outlook and a chance to socialize with other kids outside of school.

According to R. J. Gurney, Children’s Program Manager, Edward-Elmhurst Health & Fitness Centers, many children start on the path to an active lifestyle by participating in one or more team sports. That’s also true of kids who enjoy other physical activities, such as skating, dancing or unstructured, but active play. However, some kids become couch potatoes during the offseason or once they tire of their favorite activity, and many other kids who have never been active would rather choose screen time or other less rigorous pursuits. “Parents need to take a role in getting kids

to a good base point if they want them to maintain an active lifestyle as adults,” says Gurney.

What can parents do? Gurney offers these tips: • Get moving as a family. Schedule fun, active family days – a trip to the beach or pool, or a bike ride or hike in the forest preserve or botanical gardens. Rack up some steps checking out area museums and other sites. • Nurture the passion. If your child seems especially excited about a particular sport or other activity, encourage them. This might be an activity that stays with them for life. But, be sure your child is exposed to a variety of activities that might also spark their interest. One might become a second activity or a replacement for a sport in which they lose interest. • Involve friends. Kids will be more likely to stick with an activity if their friends are also involved. Talk with the parents of one of your children’s friends about options that might appeal to both kids. • Set the tone. Show your kids that you enjoy making fitness a part of your routine. Share with them what you like about running, working out, yoga classes or whatever your favorite activities may be. • Learn a new skill. Either individually or as a family, pick a new activity to try out. Archery? Kayaking? If anyone in the family can’t swim, take lessons. It’s a skill that’s potentially lifesaving and a lifetime source

Three things to consider during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (SPM Wire) — Approximately 12 percent of women in the US will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime, according to the American Cancer Society (ACS). October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month and is an ideal time to learn more about the disease. Here are some things to consider: • Screening improves the chances of early detection of breast cancer, when it is easier to treat. Follow the ACS’s guidelines for detection. Their recommendations include that women age 40 and older have a mammogram annually, and that women in their 20s and 30s have a clinical breast exam during their regular health exam -- preferably every three years. • Healthy lifestyle choices can help reduce one’s risk for developing breast cancer: eat a healthful diet, get regular physical activity and reduce alcohol intake. • Volunteer and fundraising opportunities abound that support the fight against breast cancer. To learn more about how you can get involved, visit www.Cancer.org.

District 88 outshines others at INSPRA Conference Brink, publications receive awards of excellence, merit By Dee Longfellow For The Independent

Last week, the Independent received the weekly newsletter from School District 88, which included a high-spirited column written by Superintendent Dr. Scott Helton. In it, Helton talked about the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA) annual Communications Contest and Golden Achievement Awards luncheon and that District 88 had received its fair share of

awards – four in all. At the luncheon, held on Sept. 18, District 88 Director of Community Relations Dani Brink was given four awards, which she accepted on behalf of District 88. “This state-level contest recognizes high-quality school publications and materials that promote the mission and message of a school district,” Helton said. “We received two Awards of Excellence, the highest honor, and two Awards of Merit, the second-highest honor. Below is more information about those four entries.” The awards were as follows: An Award of Excellence in the Special Purpose category for the “Mentor Program presentation,” which shares information about the Addison Mentor Program.

}Our focus at District 88 is to maintain an open, honest and transparent relationship with our stakeholders, and our communication efforts help us fulfill that goal.”

An Award of Excellence in the Writing category for the story “Beyond the gym: Willowbrook senior teaches life lessons to young gymnast,” which tells the story of Keawe Winstead, Willowbrook class of 2015, and his special bond with Payton O’Brien. O’Brien is an athlete Keawe coaches,

who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer in February 2014, which resulted in his right leg needing to be amputated. An Award of Merit in the Special Purpose category for the “District 88 receives national recognitions” flyer, which highlights our national

honors from The Washington Post and Newsweek. An Award of Merit in the Writing category for the story “Willowbrook choreographer and parent wins award,” which shares the story of how parent Nancy Bocek has been choreographing shows at WBHS for more than 15 years. Bocek also received Suburban Life Magazine’s Women of Distinction award. “Our focus at District 88 is to maintain an open, honest and transparent relationship with our stakeholders, and our communication efforts help us fulfill that goal,” Helton said. “We’re proud to receive these awards and look forward to continuing to share our news and stories of success with you. Thank you for your continued support of District 88.”

Tips to Keep Kids Healthy and Safe This School Year to counsel patients and parents on emotional and social issues, as well as issues that often crop up during adolescence, such as smoking, drugs, drinking, sexual activity and depression. “Many first time parents may not realize they can ask a pediatrician about anything related to the care of their child -- medical or not,” says Consider Sports Sports are a great way to foster confidence, cooperation, and healthy habits. Encourage your child to try out for a team, sign up for a recreational league or get a regular pick-up game started on weekends. Keep in mind certain health

considerations, such as proper nutrition and hydration, injury prevention, exercise programs and healthy attitudes surrounding sports. Schedule a sports physical with your pediatrician to discuss your child’s overall health and how to prevent injuries. Talk Safety If your child walks to school, teach him safety rules like looking both ways. If possible, have your child commute with an older sibling or neighbor. If your child rides a bike or skateboard to school, be sure he wears a helmet. Review basic rules for safer riding. Bus riders should also be mindful of safety rules, like remaining in one’s seat and

(StatePoint) — As a parent, you can help kids stay strong, healthy and safe while at school by putting wellness front and center, say experts. “There is no doubt that school is a nurturing place for your child to learn, grow and make friends,” says Dr. Sandra Hassink, MD, FAAP, President of the American Academy of Pediatrics. “But school also introduces certain health and safety risks.” With that in mind, Hassink recommends taking the following steps. Schedule a Pediatric Visit Be sure to put an annual pediatric exam on your family’s schedule. Before your visit, create a list of things you want to discuss with your child’s pediatrician to ensure you get all the information you need. This list should include ensuring your child is up-to-date on all vaccinations, which are a crucial part of preventive care. Consider building a medical history with a particular pediatrician by sticking with one doctor throughout childhood and adolescence. By doing so, the doctor will be better informed of your child’s medical history and will have a better chance of detecting emerging problems. Beyond medical testing, pediatricians are well-equipped

Addison Trail student activity fair deemed successful ADDISON — On Sept. 18, Addison Trail hosted the school’s annual Student Activity Fair. The event allowed students to learn more about the activities and clubs offered at Addison Trail, and more than 45 groups participated. “The Student Activity Fair is an opportunity for students to see all Addison Trail has to offer with regard to student clubs,” said Michael Bolden, Addison Trail Principal. “We know student success is directly related to their involve-

ment in school beyond the classroom, and this fair allows students to find a club that interests them to become more engaged in school.” Addison Trail has a 70-percent participation rate in activities, athletic programs and clubs. If students cannot find a club in which they are interested, they have the opportunity to start a new club. Willowbrook boys cross-country team off to 4-0 conference start Warriors girls golf team making progress By Mike Miazga Correspondent

The Willowbrook boys crosscountry team was off to a 4-0 start in West Suburban Conference Gold Division action through late last week. Willowbrook was gearing up for the upcoming Niles West invitational and then the WSC Gold meet at Downers Grove South. “The boys are getting excited for the big races and with the release of the regional assignments recently are really pumped up for the state series races,” said Willowbrook coach TJ Artman. “We’re super-excited about being 4-0 in the conference as well.” Artman said the likes of seniors Marco Martinez, Henry Dahl and Chris Turek, along with junior Casey King have been running well of late along with a handful of other individuals. Martinez has been particularly impressive this season. “Marco has been doing great for us,” said Artman. “He’s really coming along with his racing. This is only his second year here.” Willowbrook will be part of the Class 3A Lyons Township

regional this season that takes place Saturday, Oct. 24. Also in the regional are Morton, Curie, Hubbard, St. Ignatius, Proviso West, Hinsdale Central, Lyons Township and Proviso East. Willowbrook girls golf The Willowbrook girls golf team has received strong contributions from sophomore Sophia Parrillo and junior Jocie Trausch of late. “Sophia and Jocie have been improving each week and in each match,” said Willowbrook coach Jim White. “As a whole, we’re seeing improvement each week.” Willowbrook dropped a recent triangular match to Glenbard East and fellow West Suburban Conference member Oak Park-River Forest. “Even though we haven’t won any matches this year, our athletes are showing great pride and perseverance in their game and with their competitiveness.” Willowbrook girls volleyball The Willowbrook girls volleyball team suffered a recent 25-18, 23-25, 28-26 West Suburban Conference Gold Division loss to District 88 neighbor AddisonTrail. The loss put Willowbrook at 9-9 overall and 1-2 in WSC Gold play. Olivia Pennebaker had six kills, two aces and four digs. Grace Chantos had three digs. Maya Bullock had four kills and six solo blocks. Maddie

Weinhold finished with three aces and 15 assists. Emily Ligocki had one kill, 12 assists and one dig. Jamie Chiappetta had nine kills, one solo block, two aces and three digs. Addison Trail boys soccer team on a roll Blazers go 3-0-2 in recent five-game stretch By Mike Miazga Correspondent

The Addison Trail boys soccer team is gaining momentum heading into the stretch run of the season. The Blazers went 3-0-2 during a recent five-game swing that upped their record to 8-3-2 overall. “We are playing really good soccer of late,” said Addison Trail coach Ryan Dini. Addison Trail was 2-1 in West Suburban Conference Gold Division play through late last week with wins against Hinsdale South and Proviso East. The Blazers’ lone conference loss was to state power Morton. In recent action, Addison Trail went to a 1-1 tie on the road against a Neuqua Valley team that was ranked in the top 20. The Blazers also downed Glenbard West 2-0 in Glen Ellyn, while scoring identical 4-1 home wins against Proviso East and Hinsdale South. Junior forward Enrique Luna was leading the team with 11 goals and four assists. Junior midfielder Tom Kania, an all-sectional pick last year, had eight goals and four assists through late last week. Sophomore forward

Jonathan Hernandez had four goals and 11 assists, while senior midfielder Damian Zielinski had six goals and three assists. Addison Trail scored 14 goals during that recent five-game stretch. “Our offense has picked up over the past five games,” said Dini. “This can be attributed to our players buying into our system and knowing where the opportunities will come from within our offense. We also are doing a better job of finishing as of late when those opportunities present themselves. We start a junior and sophomore at forward so it took some time for them to get used to playing together.” Dini noted Hernandez, Luna, Zielinski, Kania and Ruben Amaro have been key to the offense of late. “It’s great to see that Jonathan and Enrique are so unselfish on the offense end and do a great job setting each other up for goal-scoring opportunities,” he said. “Damian, Tom and Ruben have anchored the middle for us and have allowed for us to push up numbers when we are in control of the ball.” Dini noted Uriel Martinez, Juan Martinez, Adrian Rozkuszka, Fernando Alvarado, Noel Diaz and Jakub Marek have contributed to the team’s success on defense. “They all have played huge roles in our defensive end to contribute to the five shutouts we

have this season,” said Dini. “They have really been the difference-makers in keeping our opponents off the scoreboard.” Senior goalie Cosme Garcia has been equally stellar. He has five shutouts in 13 games and a 1.25 goals-against average to go with 70 saves. “Cosme has been a big part of our success this year with his ability to punt and throw the ball for quick restarts.” Addison Trail has held teams to one or fewer goals in 10 of its 13 contests this season. “The defense has been strong all season,” said Dini. “The consistency has been great to watch. Cosme has been a strong leader in the back. Uriel also has stepped up as our sweeper and his experience in the back as a junior with three years on the varsity has been huge for us.” Dini also cited Isvic Quintana (junior midfielder) and Marek (senior defender) for their recent strong play. “Isvic has been a starter-sub for us all season,” the coach said. “He is starting to play excellent soccer for us on the wing and has really been hungry to make a difference in the game for this team. Jakub comes to practice every day and works really hard. He does his job when called upon and is a great player to have on the team.” Dini said attitude has played a big part in the team’s recent run of suc-

cess. “We haven’t lost a game in the past two weeks,” Dini said late last week. “I like the attitude we are bringing to practice and to the games. The team feels we are flying under the radar right now and they are using that as motivation to prove to other teams that we are very good.” Dini added on the field the Blazers are improved on first touches, as well as with overall team defense. “We have spent a lot of practice time really working on marking up when we are on defense and forcing teams into turnovers so we can work our transition offense,” he said. Addison Trail was scheduled to host Willowbrook in the annual District 88 game earlier this week. The Blazers host York Thursday at 6 p.m. for senior night. “We have had a good season so far,” said Dini. “We’re 2-1 in the conference and also have good wins against Lake Park and Glenbard West. Our defense has been rock-solid all year and the team is on the verge of playing some of its best soccer of the season. We’re 3-1-1 on the road and 5-2-1 at home. We have a lot of juniors on the team so this group is starting to come together with our senior class at the right time. The next couple weeks will be interesting as we prepare for the state playoffs.”

Addison Trail girls tennis team defeats Proviso East Blazers boys cross-country team pushing forward By Mike Miazga Correspondent

The Addison Trail girls tennis team recorded a recent 6-1 West Suburban Conference Gold Division victory over Proviso East. In other recent play, the Blazers dropped a 6-1 WSC Gold match to Leyden and also had some successes at the Addison Trail quad and the Willowbrook invitational. The Addison Trail No. 2 doubles team of Jessica Bach and Meryem Ahmed, both juniors, finished first at the Addison Trail quad and third at Willowbrook. The Blazers’ No. 1 doubles team of senior Gabriela Czerniawski and sophomore Pamela Kobeszko were second at the Addison Trail quad and third at Willowbrook. “We are doing very well in tournaments right now,” said Addison Trail coach Justin Hegner, who noted the team is working hard on improving its footwork and movement on the court. Bach and Ahmed were laud-

ed for their play in doubles thus far. “Jessica and Meryem are a new doubles team this year and already have medaled at both tournaments we’ve played in,” said Hegner. Addison Trail had WSC Gold matched with Hinsdale South and Willowbrook slated for earlier this week. “We are doing great in the tournaments,” said Hegner. “We would like to improve in the dual meets by winning more of our close matches.” Addison Trail boys cross country Addison Trail boys crosscountry runners Demetrio Cervantes and Julio Cervantes turned in strong performances at the First to the Finish invitational in Peoria. Demetrio Cervantes ran 16:49, while Julio Cervantes finished in 17:14. “Demetrio and Julio ran solid races,” said Addison Trail coach Brad Donaldson. Donaldson is seeing progress each week from his runners. “The team is developing right now, gaining experience and improving our times each week and each race,” he said. “The guys are putting in the hard work now that will reward them later. Our goal is to qualify for the sectional

meet as a team. We have a lot of different guys who are capable of making the leap to help us do that. What will matter is if they step up and deliver on race day.” Developing consistency throughout the race has been another prime area of focus. “Our goal now is focusing on the second third of the race,” said Donaldson. “We have had strong first and third miles, but we have been taking it a bit too easy in the second mile. In practice we have been trying to replicate the feeling so they understand they can push through and sustain their pace for the entire race.” Donaldson is seeing good results at the sophomore level as well. “There are a number of sophomores that are stepping up and dropping time,” he said. “They are not quite ready for varsity races but they are putting some pressure on the back end of our Top 7. Guys like Alan Lopez, David Reyes, Rob Soto, Danny Martinez and Miguel Gutierrez are really making a push for the postseason roster.” Addison Trail heads to the St. Charles North NorthStar invitational Saturday at LeRoy Oaks Forest Preserve. “I am very happy with our

performance thus far,” said Donaldson. “We are very young with only one senior so everyone is competing against older and stronger competi-

tion. The team is learning from its experiences and gaining confidence with each meet. I think we are going to be right there at the end of the year.”

Addison Trail football team victorious Fenton, Willowbrook By Mike Miazga Correspondent

The craziness that is the West Suburban Conference Gold Division took more twists and turns in Week 5 football action. When the dust settled, six of the seven teams now have one conference loss and there are no league unbeatens remaining. Addison Trail put itself at the top of the race thanks to its 14-13 WSC Gold win over Leyden. Addison Trail now is tied with Hinsdale South and Downers Grove South with identical 2-1 conference records. Downers South holds a win over Addison Trail and Hinsdale South holds a win over Downers South. The win pushed the Blazers to 3-2 overall and puts them two wins away from becoming playoff eligible with four weeks to go in the regular season. Addison Trail has won two of its last three games. Further clarity will be had Friday when Addison Trail heads to Hinsdale South for a 7:30 p.m. WSC Gold showdown. Willowbrook football

The winner also will move within one game of becoming playoff eligible. Addison Trail begins the first of three games in a row on the road. Hinsdale South’s only conference loss so far has been to Willowbrook. The Hornets have conference wins over Downers Grove South and Proviso East. A key common opponent here is Downers South: Hinsdale defeated Downers 42-20 in Week 3, while Addison Trail lost to Downers 37-21 in Week 4.

Morton lost its first two games of the year by a combined four points, including a one-point loss to WSC Silver entrant Lyons Township.

IC Catholic Prep girls volleyball team navigating through tough stretch Knights looking to get back on track after 8-1 start By Mike Miazga Correspondent

The IC Catholic Prep girls volleyball team recently hit one of those bumps in the road. After an 8-1 start, the Knights had lost four matches in a row through late last week and were 8-5 overall. “We hit a rough patch,” said IC Catholic Prep coach Nancy D’Amore. “We knew it would be a tough couple of weeks. The competition ramped up a little bit. We played St. Edward and we should have taken the match. We didn’t respond. Their big hitter was on and picked our defense part. We didn’t adjust and respond quick enough. We had beaten them earlier at the TimothyWestmont tournament. We also played Rosary and they have a nice team. We competed pretty well with them but it didn’t go our way. “Glenbard South is a good program and we knew they would be one of the toughest teams in the conference this year. We didn’t have our best outing and didn’t take advantage of opportunities. If we were on in that match, that’s one we could have taken as well. Riverside-Brookfield was a lesson in focus because we didn’t have it.” Despite the losing streak, D’Amore is seeing progress

from the team. “Our ball control always has been a stronger aspect of our game,” she said. “Passing and team defense are good. We’ve been struggling offensively with being able to terminate when we’re facing teams with big hitters. You don’t want to give them the opportunity to play the ball multiple times during a really. We’re making adjustments and doing different things in practice.” D’Amore is pleased the team has responded positively to the losing steak. “RiversideBrookfield was a big wakeup call for us,” she said. “We’ll tear it apart a little and go back at it and fix some things. The girls know they are not playing to their potential and to me that is a good sign.” Offensively, Claudia Koch and Tess Reardon have been leading the way. “They take the bulk of the swings offensively and are on the court for six rotations,” said D’Amore. “We count on them both on offense and defense and Tess sets for us as well. They play a huge role.” Kerry Mulligan has been playing well on defense. “Kerry has settled into the libero spot

and is doing well back there,” said D’Amore. IC Catholic Prep was slated to face Illiana Christian earlier this week in a Metron Suburban Conference crossover

game and will host fellow MSC West Division member Fenton Thursday for youth night. “Hopefully we will get our feet back under us,” said D’Amore.

Week 6 Preview IC Catholic Prep IC Catholic Prep (4-1, 1-0) at Riverside-Brookfield (5-0, 1-0) When: Friday, 7:15 p.m. Where: Riverside-Brookfield High School, Riverside Last week: IC Catholic Prep 41, ACC 7; R-B 31, Wheaton Academy 21 Last year: R-B 26, IC Catholic Prep 7

Outlook: A key game for both teams. The winner will stay in the catbird’s seat in the Metro Suburban Conference West Division race. Additionally, an IC Catholic Prep win makes it eligible for the playoffs, while R-B, already eligible with five wins, would clinch an automatic berth. The Knights will run into an R-B team fresh off a win against previously unbeaten Wheaton Academy (IC Catholic Prep’s Week 7 opponent). R-B has wins against two teams with winning records (3-2 St. Edward and 4-1 Wheaton Academy). It’s other victories have come against Morton (1-4), Wauconda (1-4) and Walther Christian (1-4). Looking at common opponents, R-B beat St. Edward 21-7 and Walther Christian 55-7. IC Catholic Prep beat St. Edward 41-6 and Walther Christian 51-6. IC Catholic Prep has scored 40 or more points in its last four games.
