My favorite part is looking at all the antique tractors!

I really appreciate all the work they put in to them

My favorite part of the fair: being able to reconnect with the community and 4-H members I only get to see once a year during fair week.

My boys and I love everything about the fair. From the historical buildings to the rides and everything in between. We go every day it’s here!

I love seeing all of the people of the community having fun

My favorite part of the fair is all of the good food!

My favorite part of the fair is all of the food! Especially cheese curds and corn dogs. I also love checking out the animals and walking through all of the historical buildings. Fair time is the best!

Taking the office to the concessions for lunch

My favorite part of the fair is volunteering and eating at the St.

What I like most about the Mower County Fair is the bull riding show. They put on such a great show and it’s such great entertainment for our community. Also love all of the delicious food!

I love the food and getting the chance to support many local businesses and charities in one spot.

For 4-H’ers, county fairs are not just fun annual events. Every summer, tens of thousands of 4-H’ers take part in Minnesota county fairs. When they show their projects, they are demonstrating the knowledge and skills they’ve gained throughout the year. Getting ready and participating in fairs teaches life skills such as problem solving, decision making, project management, communications and public speaking.

County fairs not only make great memories, they help 4-H youth grow into successful adults.

4-H’ers who do well in county fair competition may win trips to the state fair, state dog show or state horse show.

What’s a 4-H club?

Most 4-H’ers join a local club at some point. Clubs are fun, regular gatherings where they:

• Make friends

• Find help with their 4-H projects

• Find leadership opportunities

• Take part in culturally-specific activities and other activities and events

Clubs offer

• Small-group learning

• Caring adult volunteer leaders who are screened, trained and guided by local University of Minnesota staff

• Grounding in research-backed curriculum and best practices for nonformal learning

• Support to help you dive deep into project learning

What happens in clubs?

Will my friends be there?

Most clubs welcome anybody in kindergarten through one year past high school and interested in any project area. Youngsters in kindergarten through second grade join as Cloverbuds. Clubs may meet after school, in the evening or on the weekend. There are community clubs and local clubs for residents of one housing complex. There are clubs in every Minnesota county and two sovereign Indian nations. You may meet people you already know or a whole new set of friends.
