Sixteen years ago, Brent Kenyon began selling fresh-caught seafood on a street corner in west Medford. What began as a side hobby has since turned into a Best of the Best favorite, multiple award-winning seafood restaurant and fish market.

Kenyon thanks his mother and grandmothers for teaching him to use only the best ingredients, which he feels has resulted in his success. “We make everything from scratch,” he said. “Our hand-dipped

battered fish and chips, the lobster roll, our famous steamer buckets with crab, clams, shrimp and fresh corn in Cajun broth are just a few of the local favorites.”

Loyal customers have been with him through thick and thin, said Kenyon. “Even through pandemics and catastrophic wildfires, we have their backs and they have ours.”

Bene ts of Moving to an Assisted Living Community

Quality Care Services, Engaging Activities, and Fewer Chores Provide Freedom of Choice

Assisted Living promotes independence by encouraging residents to maintain their lifestyle and dignity while providing the security of knowing that someone is always nearby to help.

ere are countless bene ts to moving into an Assisted Living community, especially one that caters services to the individual. Some of the biggest bene ts include knowing someone will be there if needed and fewer responsibilities, leaving more time for living a lifestyle of freedom and choice.

Around the Clock Help When Needed

Assisted living communities provide round-the-clock assistance. Because of this many seniors—including those who do not currently have health di culties—choose to make the move. In Assisted Living, a caregiver or other healthcare professional is always ready to help with a range of personal needs, including: preparation of meals and meal assistance; mobility assistance; Medication reminders or administration; grooming, dressing, and bathing; transportation; and more.

Fewer Chores

One of the primary bene ts of a senior community is the elimination of indoor and outdoor chores – this means no more yard work, snow removal, and property upkeep. In addition to these services, an Assisted Living community may provide house

keeping assistance and laundry services. ese services allow for a clean, safe environment without all the work!

A Healthy, Engaging Lifestyle

By o ering a full meal sched ule with attention to dietary-requirements, Assisted Living communities encourage healthy living. With a restaurant-style, Anytime Dining Program, residents may enjoy a choice of meals throughout the day around their own schedule.

Older adults wishing to spend their time engaging in activities they want to do rather than those they have to do may consider Assisted Living.

In addition to healthy (and delicious) meals, a community may o er seniors of all abilities supervised, safe exercise activities. Physical activity helps aging seniors stay healthy, prevents falls, enhances cognitive function, and serves as a terri c social outlet.

Social Interaction with Peers

Without housework, menu planning, cooking, or the management of household bills, Assisted Living residents have more free time than ever before! is allows residents to devote more time to the activities they nd most enjoyable.

Residents in Assisted Liv-

ing communities are encouraged to participate in a variety of daily social activities and events — such as movie nights, outdoor picnics, scenic drives and outings to local attractions, dancing, and spiritual pursuits. ese gatherings encourage residents to connect socially and can help combat feelings of isolation that many seniors experience when not involved in their community.

Discover the Lifestyle for Yourself

To get the most out of your options for senior care, don’t wait to explore senior care options until there is an incident or emergency.

Explore Assisted Living communities by visiting their website, connecting with their Facebook page, and most importantly, by scheduling an in-person visit.

As sole owner/operator of Wine & Brush in Phoenix, Melissa Layton expresses her extreme gratitude for having won this award three times, even during the pandemic. “Being a small-business owner during these times has been a rollercoaster ride, but I always put my all into wherever I’m at,” she said

Since the business opened in 2013, Layton says her beloved customers and friends have supported her and kept her afloat. “I can’t thank you all enough,” she said. “Painting with my community continues to be so rewarding and healing. It’s a pleasure to call this my job.”

Art is therapy if you choose to just enjoy it, Layton added. “Come experience getting lost in

painting by just letting go. Enjoy a glass of wine or iced tea, the music and meeting old and new friends.”

NO FRILLS FLOORING

In 1995, No Frills Flooring in Medford started in a small 10-by-10 square foot o ce with a vision of capturing a professional market of builders, designers and installation contractors that were looking for the lowest price on flooring materials, reported Brian Bradley, division manager.

“No Frills had one goal in mind: to sell quality flooring at wholesale pricing,” he said “Over the years, word-of-mouth spread about our amazing prices. Today, we have over 20,000 square feet of showroom and warehouse floor stocked with

granite and quartz countertops and everything to do with flooring.”

With a second location in Grants Pass, the company has continued to grow, making No Frills Flooring the largest dealer in Southern Oregon, according to Bradley. “We have a well-trained sta to help customers and contractors with all their flooring needs,” he said.

Order writers work to keep the product arriving in store. The pricing sta works hard to make sure items are priced right on the shelves and displays.
