Other Support Available

Fusion

The Business Support and Innovation centre at SRC also supports local business and industry with new ideas and developments to help take their business to the next level. We have a team of innovation and technology specialists who work exclusively with businesses across a wide range of industry sectors who can work with you to explore your ideas and help make them a reality. They offer technical mentoring and R&D support to help develop new product/service ideas or to enhance existing products, services and processes. Innovation is not the preserve of science and technology businesses – all businesses have the potential to innovate. SRC has a number of support programmes available to help your business to innovate, most of which are partially or fully funded.

The Fusion programme involves a three-way partnership between a company with a development need, a graduate who can deliver the solution and an academic who can offer additional expertise to support the project.

InnovateUs The InnovateUs Programme is designed to deliver one-to-one bespoke mentoring support relating to a new development in your business or social enterprise, regardless of what stage that development is at. Support can be delivered over 30 or 60 hours (dependent on need) and is 100% funded by the Department for the Economy. In addition to our core offering of Food Innovation, ICT, Tourism and Engineering, we have recently expanded our support to include Digital Arts, eCommerce, Animation, Lean Manufacturing, Electronics and Interactive Tourism Trails. Your business/social enterprise must have less than 50 employees and be trading in Northern Ireland in order to be eligible.

Innovation Voucher What could a £5000 Innovation Voucher do for your Business? Do you have an idea for a new product, service or process? Do you need help to carry out research or do you need support for product design or prototyping? Our Innovation Specialists at Southern Regional College can partner with you to explore and develop your new idea. You can apply for a voucher up to the value of £5000 – funded through Invest NI’s Innovation Voucher scheme - which will buy you over 60 hours of our experts’ time. This partnership will bring new knowledge to your business to help it innovate, develop and grow.

Fusion supports strategic development within companies where there is a technology / product development focus, enabling companies to tap into the expertise available within Colleges. The company and academic institution must reside on either side of the Irish border. Funding is provided by InterTradeIreland and typical programme duration is 12-18 months.

Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) is a UK-wide programme that has been helping businesses for the past 40 years to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the UK Knowledge Base. A KTP serves to meet a core strategic need and to identify innovative solutions to help that business grow. The project involves a partnership between a company, a graduate and a college/university. The KTP often delivers significant increased profitability for business partners as a direct result of the partnership through improved quality and operations, increased sales and access to new markets. The graduate will be employed to deliver the project for the company with ongoing support from an experienced academic. KTP is part funded by InnovateUk and Invest NI. If you have an idea or concept that could potentially help your business to grow and if you need support to take that concept further, then contact the Business Support and Innovation Centre at SRC on 028 3025 9664 or email betterbusiness@src.ac.uk. The local team of experts can discuss your ideas with you and explore the potential for support.
