Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP)
The Business Support and Innovation centre at SRC also supports local business and industry with new ideas and developments to help take their business to the next level. We have a team of innovation and technology specialists who work exclusively with businesses across a wide range of industry sectors who can work with you to explore your ideas and help make them a reality. They offer technical mentoring and R&D support to help develop new product/service ideas or to enhance existing products, services and processes. Innovation is not the preserve of science and technology businesses – all businesses have the potential to innovate. SRC has a number of support programmes available to help your business to innovate, most of which are partially or fully funded.
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) is a UK-wide programme that has been helping businesses for the past 40 years to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the UK Knowledge Base.
Fusion supports strategic development within companies where there is a technology / product development focus, enabling companies to tap into the expertise available within Colleges. The company and academic institution must reside on either side of the Irish border.
Funding is provided by InterTradeIreland and typical programme duration is 12-18 months.
A KTP serves to meet a core strategic need and to identify innovative solutions to help that business grow. The project involves a partnership between a company, a graduate and a college/university. The KTP often delivers significant increased profitability for business partners as a direct result of the partnership through improved quality and operations, increased sales and access to new markets. The graduate will be employed to deliver the project for the company with ongoing support from an experienced academic. KTP is part funded by InnovateUk and Invest NI.
