Introduction to the South Hunsley Sixth Form Employer Led Programme “We are delighted to be working in partnership with South Hunsley on this unique career focussed pathway that will help students develop and evidence employability skills whilst also studying for A Levels. “If you are aiming for a high profile career, whether via a graduate route or via a higher level apprenticeship straight after sixth form, the Employer Led pathway will be ideal for you. This programme is focussed on getting your career off to a flying start and by the end of your two years of study you’ll have acquired good business acumen and achieved the very best academic results. “There is no doubt that when you finish your A Level studies in 2018, there will be a wider choice of progression options available to you than in recent years. This programme has been designed to let you sample different work situations, to help you make more informed choices about your life post sixth form and to ensure you leave with the confidence and the right set of skills to progress swiftly in your chosen field. Our focus in developing this programme has been to give you more choices and more control over your future, and ensure that whatever option you choose, you’ll have the competitive edge!

> Self Management Managing your time effectively, good attendance and punctuality and a professional and positive attitude are all covered in self-management. With two professional internships and a wide range of employment related activities to manage alongside your full programme of A Level studies, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to demonstrate your ability in this area.

Employers need young people who are work ready. It has been identified nationally that there is a growing gap between employers’ skills requirements and the skills that young people have when they finish their education. This programme has been developed with employers to ensure that you will have the right skills, knowledge and work experience to give you the competitive edge. Alongside studying for A Levels at South Hunsley, you will be given access to some of the most high profile employers in our region who will work with you to strengthen those important transferable skills that are required by all employers whilst also helping you develop the technical skills that are required for your chosen profession.
> Achieve Academic success Of course, in addition to the exciting and unique range of work experience and skills focussed events and activities that you’ll be taking part in to enhance your employability, you’ll also be studying for A Levels at South Hunsley Sixth Form. You will be given academic mentoring throughout your two years of study to ensure that you can achieve the best possible grades and you’ll also complete an Advanced Education Skills Certificate. This will prepare you for study at university level and better prepare you as learners and employees. You will be able to evidence to education providers that you have the right skills for high level study as well as sound subject knowledge and this will give you the confidence to strive for places at the most competitive and prestigious universities in the country.

> A Levels You will select four A Level subjects to study in Year 12 and continue with either three or four subjects in Year 13 as well as studying for an A Level in General Studies. If you want to progress to a high tariff university, you’ll take the Extended Project Qualification. You also have the chance to study for other professional qualifications that are relevant to your sector.
> Higher Level Employability Skills Passport
Developing this programme of study with employers means we know what employers are looking for in their workforce. We will make sure you can demonstrate you have the right knowledge, skills, qualities and attributes.

This programme will equip you with high level employabilit1y skills thanks to the unique combination of A Level study, skills workshops and professional internships. You’ll evidence this in your employability passport. At the end of your two year course this will be validated by the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership and can be used to support job or university applications.
> Specialist Industry Mentoring > Internships You will be assigned two professional internships during your two years of study on this programme. Internships will be relevant to the career areas you would like to explore and will help you develop those essential transferable skills that are required on all good CVs.
> Higher Education Skills Certificate We have partnered with the University of Hull to make sure that you are fully equipped for higher education study, should you be aiming for a graduate route into work. You’ll take part in workshops on note taking, referencing and independent study with lecturers and graduate ambassadors from the university to achieve a Higher Education Skills Certificate.
You will gain invaluable skills, knowledge and experience through you specialist industry mentor who you will meet on a regular basis. We’ll carefully match you with a professional from the business world who will help you progress in your chosen field by giving you first hand advice and guidance and support you in developing specific technical skills.
> Enrichment Programme You will have one hour a week to undertake wider enrichment opportunities. There are numerous opportunities, including volunteering as a mentor at South Hunsley School, becoming a Student Ambassador or joining the Student Leadership Team.

If you are interested in the Employer Led Programme make sure you tick the expression of interest box on the online application form on the South Hunsley Sixth Form College website www.southhunsley.org.uk/sixth-form Once you’ve secured your place at South Hunsley Sixth Form College, the Employer Advisory Board will conduct a selection process in February / March and offer places on the Employer Led Programme.
Entry Requirements Entry to our Employer Led Programme will be via interview. However, students will need to demonstrate exceptional academic ability and the typical grade profile will be eight GCSEs at grades A*-B, ideally including A*or A grades in English, Maths and at least one Science. Employers will be looking for entrepreneurial experience and skills at interview and, therefore, if you do not fit the grade profile you may still be able to access a place on this programme.
