FAQs Q: Will my son/daughter need their own Passport? A: Yes you will need your own Passport as no group passport will be completed. Q: Will my son/daughter need an EHIC card. A; Yes you will need an EHIC card which can be ordered free of charge online from the nhs website. Q: How much spending money should my son/daughter bring? A: It is down to individual choice however it should be noted that three meals are provided, in addition to drinks at breakfast and one in the packed lunch. The insurance limit for cash is £100. I would suggest £10-15 per day would be plenty for apres ski and additional drinks, but presents would be additional. No more than £150 is necessary. Q: What safeguards are in place to make sure my son/daughter does not lose their money. A: A Bank System will be the responsibility of one staff member. On the morning of departure students hand in a sealed envelope with spending money. This will be placed in a safe deposit box and be placed in the safe. Every evening in resort after the evening meal, the member of staff will open the bank and offer budget advice. Whilst money taken out is the responsibility of the students it will hopefully ensure that money lost is in small quantities.
FAQs Q: What if my child is injured on holiday? A: Comprehensive injury insurance has been added to the cost of the trip, and where possible we take a qualified medical professional with us on the trip for early diagnosis and emergency assistance. Where medical assistance is necessary the use of the EHIC card is essential to cover emergency costs. In the event of breakages and hospitalisation a member of staff will accompany your child and assist as possible. Should your child have to travel back by flight then arrangements will be made appropriate to the age of the child and be accompanied by a member of staff. Q: Does my child have insurance? A: Yes an insurance package from FOGG TRAVEL INSURANCE is used which covers injury and personal items. Please familiarise yourself with the limits and excess should there be a claim. Q: Will we receive any information for the trips organisation? A: A parents and students information evening will be held to provide specific tour details approximately one month before departure. An Information booklet will be created approximately two weeks prior to departure. This will detail the travel times, proposed itinerary, hotel information and contact numbers/emergency details. Your child will receive a hard copy, and a copy will be placed on the school website for parental information.
FAQs Q: Will my son/daughter be allowed to take mobile phones and other items of similar nature? A: Yes such items can be taken and are often used to pass the journey times. It is essential to realise however that the cost of such expensive items will not be fully covered by the holiday insurance and your should familiarise yourself with the limits on such items. You may consider leaving expensive items at home or make additional insurance provision. Q: The journey is a long time. How do you intend to organise this to pass the time comfortably? A: The trip will set off late afternoon on the departure day. This is chosen specifically so that we will arrive for an evening meal at a Grantham services which has a range of food establishments. We also get an evening ferry so the majority of the journey is overnight whilst students are sleeping. To keep the party entertained there is a DVD player on board so DVDs of a suitable nature will be shown. Students are urged to bring along their own entertainment e.g. books, puzzles, travel games and music. Although a WC is on board, we aim to stop for toilet breaks where needed to reduce the usage in order to save it for an emergency.
FAQs Q: Can my son/daughter take their own skis/snowboards? A: Within the holiday cost, all student ski hire including skis/snowboard, ski poles, boots and helmet are provided. Whilst some people would prefer to take their own equipment it is not necessary. It is expected that students can take own boots and helmet in their one holdall, however luggage space is normally at a premium. If a student choses to bring their own ski’s and there is no room on the coach then they will be refused on the day of travel and secured until our return. Q: If I take my own ski equipment will this make the trip cheaper? A: No, the ski company does not reduce the price should we take our own equipment.
