Wheatley soccer field re-naming gets approval

WHEATLEY — Once soccer is able to proceed, the players and coaches will be stepping on to a newly named field in Wheatley.

On Monday night, Chatham-Kent Council approved the request to rename the soccer field the Michael Laliberte Memorial Soccer Field.

Michael was an avid soccer player, coach and referee who passed away last year. He was just 16.

A public input forum was held online and the re-naming was approved by council, along with funds set aside for upgrades to the field.
