Park closed Jan. 6-20 for deer cull
LEAMINGTON — Point Pelee National Park’s annual deer herd reduction activity will begin on January 6 and run through January 20.
The park will be closed to visitors during that two-week span to facilitate the reduction and keep everyone safe.
Parks Canada issued a statement last week outlining the need to reduce the whitetail deer herd within the park to protect the forest and savannah eco-systems.
Deer blinds were erected in the park over the past two weeks. The reduction is being held with the participation of Caldwell First Nation.
