SECC Career Week for students and young adults

LEAMINGTON — South Essex Community Council (SECC) has announced its first ever Career Week, hosted by SECC’s Career Hub on March 14-18 from 1-4 p.m. each day.

Students and young adults aged 14-29 are invited to attend the free five-day Career Week events featuring speakers from different career paths, resume tips, free headshots, and individual appointments with career counsellors.

“We see the need for students and young adults to have access to supports in choosing their intended career path,” said Stephen Gard, SECC’s Manager of Programs and Development. “Our Career Hub is well equipped to provide these services, and we’ve partnered with industry professionals to share information.”

The event will take place at SECC’s Leamington office and have a variety of speakers from various careers including policing, law, health care, skilled trades, manufacturing and social media marketing.

There will also be sessions on in-demand jobs in Essex County, financial assistance to attend post-secondary education, and matching your career path to your personality type.

Resume help and career counselling will be available daily on a drop-in basis from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Participants must register for the career sessions due to space limitations. Parents are welcome to attend.

For each session attended, individuals will receive a ballot to be placed in a draw for a pair of Apple AirPods and a Starbucks Gift Card.

For more information, call SECC at 519-326-8629 or message them on Instagram at @SouthEssexCC. Anyone can register for free at secc.on.ca/careerweek.
