Two arrested for catalytic converter thefts

LEAMINGTON — A good surveillance system and a quick call to the Ontario Provincial Police are credited with assisting Leamington officers to arrest two people after a catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle on Seneca Drive.

The theft occurred around 5:15 pm on December 28, and the surveillance system was able to provide patrol officers with a good description of the suspects and the vehicle involved.

A patrol officer later spotted a vehicle matching the description and conducted a traffic stop to investigate further.

As a result of the investigation two people were arrested and charged for possession of stolen property contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

A 56-year-old and a 36-year-old, both of Kingsville, are scheduled to appear on February 10, 2021 in the Leamington Ontario Court of Justice.
