Scores high in senior men's hockey action

By C. Scott Holland

LEAMINGTON – It was a night when the shooters prevailed in the recent round of senior men’s hockey.

Gillett 9 Gualtieri 2

Gillett Roofing hammered the Gualtieri Farms squad who were hoping for a bit of luck with their new jerseys.

Gualtieri’s output was courtesy of Pat Sonoski and Dylan Impens.

For the second consecutive week, Mitch Prudence paced the Gillett assault with a hattrick. Calan Kir also triggered a hattrick, while Pete Neufeld fired two and Marshall Fritsch planted one.

Gabriele 8 Reid 7

It didn’t take long to decide this one as it went to the three-on-three overtime frame.

Reid’s put up a great comeback in the third period to knot the contest. Cale Phibbs paced that attack by drilling two, while Cody Cabral, Kevin Sawatzky, Dylan Montague and Jordan Hooker tabbed one goal apiece.

The Gabriele squad rode Kyle Kudrock’s hattrick and three assists, while Kyle Dietrich scooped two. Cam Dawson planted one and the hero was Brett Babkirk, whose sharp angle OT shot found the target for the game winner.
