SPSCC Percival Choir and SPSCC Chamber Singers

The SPSCC Percival Choir and the SPSCC Chamber Singers come together each quarter for an eclectic evening of vocal performance. Choral concerts feature music from a diverse range of cultures and time periods, holiday and seasonal favorites, as well as major works by classical composers.

Music

SPSCC Symphony Orchestra

The SPSCC Symphony Orchestra is an auditioned performing group open to SPSCC students and members of the community. The orchestra is conducted by SPSCC music professor Cameron May and has developed a reputation for its world-class musical performances.

Performances are held at the end of every quarter in the beautiful and acoustically rewarding Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts.

SPSCC Jazz Band

The SPSCC Jazz Band is comprised of exceptional local talent from SPSCC and across the community. The group comes together at the end of each quarter to perform in various ensemble arrangements featuring bebop, blues, latin, and swing jazz standards. Come to a performance and you'll find yourself toe tapping along.

SPSCC Theatre Collective

From re-imagined classics to cutting edge new plays and musicals, the SPSCC Theatre Collective brings daring, enchanting, and provocative performances to the beautiful Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts Main Stage and intimate Black Box Theatre. Each quarter’s production engages students, community artists, and audiences in the excitement of the live theatrical experience.

2023 SPSCC Art Faculty and Staff Exhibition

Aug. 28 – Sept. 29, 2023

The Leonor R. Fuller Gallery proudly presents new work from South Puget Sound Community College art faculty and staff: Sean Barnes, Joe Batt, Liza Brenner, John Brooks, Steve Davis, Michael Gray, Melissa Meade, Edgar Smith, Bruce Thompson, and Crisha Yantis.

Nishiki Sugawara-BedaKotodama Converse

Oct. 6 – Nov. 3, 2023

Artist Nishiki Sugawara-Beda installs the Kotodama Converse, a lightweight paper and script sculptural installation, with accompanying small sumi paintings on wood. Nishiki Sugawara-Beda is a Japanese-American visual artist based in painting and installation. She draws upon her Japanese heritage to explore themes related to culture, language, and spirituality rooted in Zen Buddhism. Connecting across space and time, she experiments in ancient Japanese materials and techniques including sumi ink, kakejiku landscapes, and rice paper, to merge them with abstract and expressive forms familiar to the modern Western aesthetic.

15th Annual Native American Art Exhibition: Chehalis Basketry –Honoring the Hazel Pete Legacy

Nov. 13 – Dec. 8, 2023

A themed exhibition highlighting traditional and contemporary basketry woven by the Hazel Pete Family.

This themed exhibition, shaped and selected by Native guest curators, which will engage viewers and the community and celebrate the art and culture of our Native community members. The exhibition will highlight work by Native artists, adult, and youth from local and regional tribes, and Native artists from other locations who now live in the area.

13th Annual Fine Art Postcard Exhibition “The Creature Within”

Jan. 2 – Feb. 2, 2024

The Fine Art Postcard Exhibition is an annual event that brings the local creative community together under one theme. The 2024 theme is “The Creature Within”. Postcard-sized original artworks, created by artists of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, will be sold through silent auction. All are invited to join the creative celebration! Proceeds from this fundraiser benefit The Gallery.

Faculty Show 2023

Collaboration Installation

Feb. 12 – March 15, 2024

SPSCC art students, led by a visiting artist, will participate in a multi-session workshop that culminates in an exhibition of the work in The Gallery. Students will experience all aspects of a collaborative project, including planning, production, installation, and presentation.

Juror's Invitational

March 25 – April 26, 2024

Award winning artists from the 2023 Southwest Washington Juried Exhibition, selected by juror Nathan Barnes, are invited back to show new work in this group exhibition. Participating artists include Jane Degenhardt, Amy Fisher, JW Harrington, Bella Kim, Rebecca Madsen, and David Moore.

19th Annual SPSCC Student Art Exhibition

May 13 – June 14, 2024

South Puget Sound Community College’s art faculty selects outstanding work created by students in studio art classes during the 2023-24 year. Works include ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, digital photography, mixed media, 2D and 3D design exercises, and sculpture.

2024 Southwest Washington Regional Juried Exhibition

July 8 – Aug. 16, 2024

The Southwest Washington Regional Juried Exhibition serves area artists by providing a high-quality exhibition opportunity that promotes the region’s creative identity.

The Southwest Washington Juried Exhibition is organized by The Leonor R. Fuller Gallery at the Kenneth J Minnaert Center for the Arts on the campus of South Puget Sound Community College. Artists working in all media and residing in Clark, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Pierce, Skamania, Thurston, or Wahkiakum counties are invited to submit an entry for consideration.

Opening reception: Thursday, July 11; 6 – 8:30 p.m.

There is no ticketing this season at SPSCC. All shows have a suggested $15 donation. Admission is free to SPSCC students, staff, and faculty.

The Leo Gallery is located inside the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts (Building 21). Admission is free. Hours: Monday - Thursday, 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. or by appointment.
