South Puget Sound Community College is located on the ancestral lands of the Steh-Chass band of the Squaxin Island Tribe and Nisqually Indian Tribe, who have long been stewards of the region’s waters, plants, and animals. The southernmost point of the Salish Sea, these lands were—and still are—a place of gathering, trade, and community for many Coast Salish peoples. Percy stops by the SPSCC Dental Clinic for their teeth cleaning and supplies every six months.
Born in the midst of the rumbling, roaring deep sea volcanoes of the Ring of Fire, Percy the Kraken began their life far beneath the surface of the Pacific Ocean. Percy quickly grew restless from the noise and chaos and was eager to see the world above the waves. Percy rose through the murky waters of the Salish Sea and eventually made their home in the secluded, shallow waters of Percival Creek.
