When it comes to the art of coloring hair, Kristen Barry McNeil is a stylist with Hollywood appeal. In addition to being a longtime stylist at Charles David Salon in Hanover, and also her recently opened salon Kristen Barry McNeil Hair Studio in Foxborough, she has worked as a hair colorist and stylist on the set of numerous television and blockbuster movie productions filmed in the Boston area.
“Coloring hair is my specialty,” says Kristen, who grew up in Marshfield and developed a passion for doing hair at a young age. After cosmetology school, Kristen moved to New York, where she started doing hair on Broadway. It was around this time that she landed a gig as the hairstylist for “Good Morning America” host Joan London, whom she worked with for nearly seven years. Her celebrity jobs also included a stint on the “Rosie O’Donnell Show” and at “Saturday Night Live,” where she did Jimmy Fallon’s hair for two years. After Kristen got married, she moved back to the South Shore and began working at Charles David Salon, while continuing to moonlight with movie gigs. One of her specialties is coloring wigs, which has come in handy when working on films like “Free Guy,” “Joy” (for which she colored all of Jennifer Lawrence’s wigs), “American Hustle,” and “The Forger.” Most recently, she colored a $20,000 wig worn by actress Annie Murphy on the AMC series “Kevin Can F**k Himself.” Kristen is also known for her friendly personality and has many loyal customers. “Having your hair done can really make a person feel great,” she says. “I’m lucky I really love what I do.”

For more than 20 years, Jessica Williams, AIA, has guided her clients through the process of building their dream homes, evaluating their unique needs and desires and devising creative solutions to bring those dreams to fruition. In 2001, while raising her children, she launched Williams Design Studio, specializing in a range of home design projects, from well-organized mudrooms to 8,000-square-foot shingle-style houses. In 2021, Williams founded SAIL Architects, embarking on this new venture with a focus on sustainable design, contemporary coastal style, and careful consideration for the well-being of her clients.
“Buildings have a huge impact on the environment and connecting to nature is the best way to make our spaces contribute to our well-being,” says Williams. “My success as an architect comes when I create gorgeous, unique buildings that create as much or more energy than they need, and bring my clients joy every time they arrive home.”
In addition to aesthetics and sustainability, Williams and her crew emphasize the form and function of architectural design: how the homeowners will utilize and experience their space on a daily basis. “Architecture is intended to be moved through,” she says. “Spaces that provide the right mood—whether energetic and family-oriented, or Zenfocused and relaxing—are thoughtfully designed for scale, views, light, organization and the connection to nature, physically and visually.”
