Welcome South Wales Police is committed to supporting your health and wellbeing – there is a wide range of support available including the wellbeing pages on Bob – to find them search wellbeing in quick links. They contain information on a wide variety of wellbeing information including free initiatives and resources. There is also a section to share your ideas and ask any questions you may have.

Some of the support available to you include: My Mind (Counselling & Trauma)

Connect Assist

There is a confidential one to one counselling available for all staff and officers whether required for personal or work related incidents. You can contact Counselling & Trauma Services direct on extension number ( 27987.

To compliment counselling and trauma services, South Wales Police offer an independent, free and confidential 24 hours a day, 7 days a week telephone helpline, that is available for officers and staff.

Trauma Risk Management (TRiM)

TRiM

South Wales Police also have an in-house counselling service specialising in trauma support. Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) is available to support officers and staff following involvement in traumatic incidents. To arrange counselling or TRiM services, contact details may be found on ‘BOB’, or extension ( 27987.

The Connect Assist helpline ( 0800 028 1514 gives support and help to people who are finding it difficult to cope with worries or concerns, whether work related or not.

Financial support If you are having financial issues please speak to your line manager. The unmanageable debt policy also has a list of agencies which can support you.

Bluelight Infoline Offers confidential, independent and practical support, advice and signposting around mental health and wellbeing. The Infoline is just for emergency service staff, volunteers and their families. ( 0300 303 5999 Open Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, the phone number above is charged at local rates. Contact using the email or text details at any time, for a response from a dedicated advisor during the infoline working hours. Provides information on a range of topics including: n n n n n n n n

In addition services already available within Occupational Health, South Wales Police is making available to officers and staff, Blue Light Champions.

A Blue Light Champion is a volunteer who takes action in their department/organisation to help raise awareness around mental health issues and challenge stigma. They will promote, encourage and inspire by their example and through the support and signposting that they provide. The team space on Bob (search blue light champions) provides information and resources to anyone wishing to become a champion or seeking assistance on mental health.

Carers UK We support working carers and are an active member of Carers UK’s business forum, Employers for Carers. Our membership includes access to efcdigital.org which offers a range of resources that can help us support staff who juggle work and care. It also offers advice for managers of carers. Police Sport and Social South Wales (PSSW)

Enables officers and staff to have a person to talk to and act as a critical friend. Their role is to be involved in the provision of basic support and a ‘listening ear’.

For just £3 a month Police Sport South Wales (PSSW) can save you money and help support your wellbeing. PSSW actively fund 28 sporting sections within the force and they also assist BCU activities and cover all insurance aspects for local gyms. In addition they also run the staff benefits scheme giving access to discount theatre tickets, products and day trips. They also pay for your membership to the Police Perks website which offers a wide variety of discounts with retailers and other companies. Police Federation Welfare Support Programme

LGBT network

Officers involved in death or serious injury incidents that result in post-incident investigations or those who are suspended from duty, can now access the Federation’s Welfare Support Programme (WSP). This has been created for officers who find themselves having to cope with often life changing situations through the course of their duties.

Access to a 24/7 support line managed by trained professionals; and a full-time Welfare Support Officer, who will work alongside Federation representatives to support officers and their immediate families. The programme will develop further over an initial two-year pilot period to include enhanced support with the provision of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), coaching and counselling.
