Gender Issues Play Vital Role in Women’s Addiction, Treatment and Recovery Professionals in the addictions field finally realize that women have special needs in addiction treatment. Women become intoxicated and dependent on some drugs more quickly than men, and are more apt to suffer from co-occurring mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety.
