The 2011 Egyptian Revolution On 25 January 2011, the people of Egypt took to the streets to protest against President Hosni Mubarak’s regime and to overthrow his government. In the weeks that followed, clashes erupted in Cairo and other cities across the country which resulted in hundreds of protesters being killed, and thousands of others getting wounded. Massive protests continued until 11 February 2011, when at 6:00 pm local time, Vice President Omar Suleiman announced the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak and the hand-off of control to the Egyptian Military. The following special edition of Sowar Magazine is dedicated to the photographs taken during the revolution, and are presented in chronological order.
